kbrew8991 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Lets say you had a 2 rotor rotary engine that was NA, 1.3L - do the +0.3 factors "stack up" in this case? Or in other words under that same case would you be able to claim both lines and come out of that section with a +0.6 credit? Quote

No, only the one factor is for rotary engines. Quote
Ryan S. Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 "Rotary engine with a maximum of two rotors and one turbocharger turbine = +0.3 "Naturally aspirated (non-rotary) engine with displacement 1.9L or less = +0.3" So reading the rule explicitly; a rotary engine car is only benefited when setup as forced induction with a single turbo. If the car is running a naturally aspirated rotary engine then as compared to the same car setup with a 1.9l or less piston engine, the car carries a penalty. As an example an Rx7 would be better off converting to a Miata engine to run naturally aspirated, and a Miata would be better off converting to a single turbo 13b to run forced induction. Is my reading correct? Is that the intention of the ruling? Quote
kbrew8991 Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 Maximum of one turbo, but not a minimum of one turbo either. So a single turbo or NA rotary engine would get the +0.3 credit Quote
