johnalley Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 trying to get a sense of if most people buy or build/design their own rear wing/spoiler. Went with the Good Aero rear wing and it is one of the best investments I have put on my car. Quote
Balroks Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I don't have the skills or the budget so I surfed my car's forums for months until the one I wanted showed up for a steal. Quote
Varkwso Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Most buy. If you are lucky there is a sorted one for your car. Quote
dradernh Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I bought a DJ Racecars single element 203 in an effort to get maximum downforce with minimum drag. They had hard data that convinced me it was worth a try. It's made a huge difference, partly because of where it's mounted: behind the decklid, at roof height, and bolted to the rear frame rails. I have barely enough front aero to balance it when the wing's at 0 degrees. Quote
kartermdb Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I am researching this myself. I am looking at both the fulcrum aero and kognition wings. Quote
Element Tuning Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Take a look at Fulcrums aero data and you'll find it has super high downforce with extremely low drag. This and strength were the main reasons I chose it over others. Quote

aaronsti Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 trying to get a sense of if most people buy or build/design their own rear wing/spoiler. for what kind of car? i'm driving a Subaru sti. but my question still remains the same no matter what you drive Quote
pmcrespo Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) Reach out to AJ at AJ Hartman Racing. We are going through the very exact discussion right now. I come from the previous GoodAero wing which was fantastic for my application (lower HP under 150mph). But I damaged it and I am looking for a replacement along with a few of the other racers/tuners in the area and possibky do a small group by for a deeper discount. We are looking at GoodAero, Kognition, Fulcrum, and a few others. Have data kind of compared already so its coming down to who's data we trust the most and $$ premium/efficiency factor... Obviously as pmcrespo notes, there are already quite a few built options with associated data for you to look at on an STI. Quote
MR.UGLY Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 trying to get a sense of if most people buy or build/design their own rear wing/spoiler. I'm planning to build my own unless I trip over a deal too good to pass-up. I've investigated several aerodynamic theories and would prefer to build my own. But then I'm a Grassroots kind of racer ( not to mention low budget ) and prefer unique to SAMO-SAMO mind set. Others will say " Why reinvent the wheel?" And that's a valid point of view. It certainly saves time. Quote
