Technical Inspection

Recommended Posts

I'm interested in the May HPDE event at Heartland Park in Topeka. I cannot not find the rules/guidelines for technical inspection. For example:

#What helmet is required?

#What cars are excluded? I own a Nissan 350Z Roadster and it is disqualified because the "roll bar" is not really a roll bar and does not extend above the driver's head.

I believe Porsche Boxsters and some other roadster/convertibles are allowed.

#What does the technical inspection cover?

Thanks

This is the form that is filled out for each HPDE session, I don't know of any car that is "excluded" from HPDE. Check with your local race director, should be listed on the site. You're car will probably be fine for just doing HPDE

Thanks. I did that convertibles are required to have a 4 point roll bar, which to my understanding, my 350Z Roadster does not have. For that reason, I have not been allowed to participate at the HPT Touring Club events.

I'll dig into this some more.

Just to complete this thread, here is a link to the approved convertibles list:

If you have a convertible and it is not on the list it needs to have rollover protection installed. Check the HPDE section in the CCR for specifics on required safety equipment and more.
