BlueBeemer Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Just bought a new car, switching from German machines to Japanese, and thinking about running ST3 next year. I calculate it this way: Non OEM aero = -.5 255 tires = +.4 weight 2650 = -.3 Total = -.4 Soooooo I can run ST3 with a max 9.4 power to weight ratio, correct? Quote
sperkins Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Yes as long as there are no other modifiers like AWD, FWD etc. to consider. Quote
BlueBeemer Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 So my car can now run in ST3 at 9.3-1 ratio??? Non OEM aero -.4 255 tire +.3 2650 -.2 Also.........if running a NON dot approved tire (slick) is the same +.3 as a dot approved tire, why wouldn't you run a full slick????? Quote
BlueBeemer Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 Nevermind, just found the ST excel calculator. Great tool! Quote
kbrew8991 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Why wouldn't you run a full slick????? you can get that credit for a narrow/narrower slick, but, you also have to take the hit for non-DOT construction tire as well. Since they come in all sizes it could be a net of: -0.7 for big slicks (-0.7 for construction, +/-0 for size) -0.4 for medium slicks (-0.7 for construction, +0.3 for size) +/- 0 for narrow slicks (-0.7 for construction, +0.7 for size) also just try and beware of confusing RAW hp/weight and Adjusted hp/weight. They're two different animals Like the difference between a cow and a steak on the plate. Quote
