So we went back to Toyo... Why?

From nasaproracing.com contingency $ page

Toyo. 5-8 starters $150 for win plus some silly rotation schedule

Hoosier. 5-6 starters 2 free tires= $400+ no worries, just run 'em

I'm glad it's working out in favor of the racers.

I know it's all about the $, just not ours.

I won't even begin the heat cycle debate

Oye.

Look at the TOYO contingency. Almost everyone gets some money down the order. Ah, socialism. Contingency checks for everyone! (just small ones).

What are we going to do next - give everyone a trophy? Oh wait....

I don't personally vote for socialism; but a lot of people do. A lot of people running 10th out of 15 cars are very happy with the TOYO contingency in Spec Miata.

You can all run Hoosiers with me in AIX if you like the Hoosier contingency! I promise to break once in a while.

I like the spec iron contingency from Ford cause you get a real check you can use on anything. The whole Toyo gift certificate thing is kind of "cheap" cause even if you win both days you get a total of $300. That only buys one tire. If you're in spec Miata its 1.5 tires. At least with Hoosier they gave away one free tire each points race a weekend equaling two tires which equals closer to $500 depending on what class you run. Mazdaspeed used to give away real money to if you ran a Mazda, not sure if they still do.

The BFG spec Z class has the best. That's what I was hoping for SI,but we run under the AI banner so it's Toyo.I take what they give us cause it's better than nothing. After running a 98 cobra in AI,SI is far better so I'm not crying about it.

Toyo bucks do ramp up with larger fields, and Toyo pays further down the fields. The RR's last longer, so at the end of the season, for all involved, less money is spent. I do agree it works out better in the small bore spec tire sizes, but the top few in 944 Spec rarely had to buy tires at all. One other big reason to stay with the RR's is better consistancy. We ran 5 back to back tests with Nationals podium (i.e. consistant) drivers on tires with 17-18 HC tires vs. stickers. While the stickers came up to temp a bit more quickly, in ultimate lap times the old tires were fractionally faster (call it a wash). Winning on Hoosiers in the 3rd weekend out isn't going to happen in a competitive field, but you can do that on RR's.

not is a 3500lb mustang you can't. You show up at grid with 17hc in a front running spec iron car vs a front running spec iron car on fresh tires you will get killed in a 35min race.

Exactly right... +1.

No, wait a minute. Yes, yes it can be done. Attention all SI drivers. The RR's are good for AT LEAST 20 HC's...

Fair enough, your car are fat , but Hoosiers would be proportionately worse yet in that circumstance.
