wm577
lets say a car is +200 lbs over it's min comp. base weight. does that car get points back for that (neg. points)? I sort of remember this being a thing years back but I can't find it in the rules. ..or maybe said car should just ask for a reclassing based of dyno HP / wt? thanks. kbrew8991
You don't get points back for being over weight. Not automatically like running a narrower tire than the reference tire width for your base class anyway. If I were in that person's shoes with that car I'd ask for a reclass to a lower base class at the heavier weight. It's effectively just like getting points back, but, that's also the only way to legally do it.
TurboShortBus
+1 for getting a dyno reclass for a porky car. Even if "getting points back" for being overweight was in some old rule set somewhere, it doesn't matter if it's not in the current one. kbrew8991
never has been, at least since 2005 anyway
hufflepuff
Concur; go with dyno reclass. I believe Greg is fair with his assessments and you can end up reasonably competitive.
