I need to cut a slit in the rear bumper facia for a tow hook. Is that considered modifying the bumper and I have to take a point hit?

Nobody is going to ding you for a hole or slit in a bumper cover for a tow hook. I checked the 2016 TT rules and could not find a notation about tow hooks, but I'm fairly certain you are 100% safe to add a hole or slit - just don't get cute and make it much bigger than the opening needed.

 

 

My shop has added tow hooks and straps to dozens of cars and nobody ever asked about legality.
