Tire width and time?

How much time does 10mm of tire add around a 1:30 track. So say you have a 225 tire if you widen to 235,245, etc how much time do you get?

Depends on car...

Going wider on a lower hp car, could raise times due to increased rolling resistance. You also may add to overall circumference of the tire, raising gear ratio effecting acceleration.

To second Bill. No way to really tie numbers to your question without testing.

Going wider, you must match the rim to the tire section width. All to often, I see a tire section width that is too wide for the rim its mounted too.

So say you have the right rim and tire width. It will affect ultimate grip in the corner and some straight line braking but you've added a lot of unsprung weight, friction/drag from the rolling assembly, and possible gearing changed.

Consider going with the narrow or current tire and upping your compound. That will get you more g's (there is a reason why the sticker compounds are a lot more points...).
