The debate continues...

 

I have a manual running '83 with fair body and a decent condition '86 but it's a auto.

 

The question; Is it worth the hassle of swapping the '83 drive-line into the '86 chassis? Is it safe to assume all the chassis's had provisions for each?

 

Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't have an answer for you, but you might want to post over on 944spec.org. It seems most of the 944 racers do more there.
