Rule Proposal: Change GTS1 and GTS2 to World Touring Series

There is no reason to limit the cars that can participate in GTS based on manufacturer. There are many people that are attracted to the simplicity of the ruleset who don't own German cars. There is no downside simply due to the fact that the leading cars in GTS tend to also be the leading cars in similar power ranges in other classes. If the goal is to increase car counts, why eliminate people who frankly aren't at some major competitive advantage. If someone shows up to GTS1/2 with a Nissan 350Z and wins, good for them. Although I don't see that happening :D

The growing success of ST4 isn't due to people loving the rules, because frankly many people hate some of the specifics. But it's a growing class because everyone can race there. It's time for GTS to become more inclusive if you want the class to survive long term. I have limited this proposal to GTS1/2 so the idea can be tested. Once the obvious increase in car count happens you can determine if you want the same expansion in the rest of GTS.

I can support that. It will all depend on what it does to ST class though.

I support this. Also there seems to be a set of cars that are penalized and excluded in the ST rule set b/c and this could be a great landing place. I love the simple rules and would like to see bigger classes.

As The 350Z I would join. I think having more classes that are open between them can help spur larger classes. If it happens You would have this 350Z to +1 in mid-a

Hells yes. I support this fully! WORLD TOURING SERIES. Same gts rule set. Gts2 becomes 13.5:1. And every make model is allowed!? We would have the biggest series out there!

This sounds more like a suggestion for ST than a reason for GTS to break into 2 dissimilar pieces.

I support this. Fully built cars like my widebody e36 M3 have custom parts don't cross over well to ST4's blatantly subjective rule set. Besides GTS2 I don't really have another place to race and would welcome race cars.

I support this. I'd rather see ST cars move to "GTS" or "WTS" than lose GTS cars to ST.

If you are not committed in an all-German class then why not just go to ST (insert number here). The increased number for cars in each ST class would be great. We are in NorCal and are building an E36 for ST5 where the car count is increasing. SoCal had a large number (+25) of ST5 cars submitted for approval in 2018. I am not aware of GTS numbers but they have not been especially high in NorCal.

The ST4-6 ruleset has some pretty ridiculous stuff in it which is why it’s not appealing to many in GTS. The mod for side exhaust, ban on dive planes, subjective limits on flares, limits on splitter length, just to name a few. I will give them credit for finally ending the idiotic limit on only e46 M’s being able to run MK60’s in ST4. Sounds like for NorCal ST5 May be a good option. An e36 should dominate that class.
