Rapidroy10 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Hello everyone, I am currently building a 2003 Mustang for road racing. I have read the rules and feel my V6 powered car will be a nice fit into the local ST5 group that is growing nicely. I see the rules regarding the subframes is that they must be stock. My car currently has a tubular front subframe installed that I understand I may have to replace with a stock part. UNLESS - Has anyone ever been allowed to use a tubular subframe that mirrors the stock suspension mounting locations and only provides more clearance for the oil pan and exhaust headers? Thank you for your input. RR Quote
BKO 5 Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Im gonna go out on a limb here and say that 99% of the afttermarket or one off custom tubular subframes would have to attach to the all of the stock mounting points in order to be safe and structuraly sound. In other words mirror the the stock frame. With that said I was in the same boat, I swapped gear boxes and using a tubular subframe gave the clearance I needed so I went with that. So that would automatically put you in TT3 if I remember correctly so you might want to think about putting back the stock unit unless you can make more power. Quote

Rapidroy10 Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 That's what I figured. Thank you for the clarification. Anyone want to buy a used tubular K member? See you at the races, cheers. RR Quote
