Fram Air Filters = Garbage

Recommended Posts

I thought I would share my recent experience with Fram air filters. I recently purchased 2012 Cummins 6.7. After my basic inspection of the motor, I noticed the air filter was exceptionally dirty, clogged, straw, bees, and about two to three ounces of dirt. So I purchased a Fram replacement because dodge is 12 miles away. After the new filter my hwy mpg dropped from 17.9 to 13.9 @ 65 mph. I have never seen such a fuel economy loss by putting in a brand new air filter.

Next day, I went to dodge and replaced with OEM. My mileage shot right back up to 17.9 @ 65 mph on the highway.

Autozone was helpful and refunded my money on the Fram.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
