cmc38camaro Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 The rag joint on my steering shaft is worn out and needs to be replaced. I know Per & Julie have had similar problems. Does any one know where to get a rebuild kit for these things. GM sells the replacement shaft complete with couplers, but they want way too much for it. Thanks, Mike Quote
Members Al F. Posted March 12, 2003 Members Posted March 12, 2003 Mike...when the rag joing went out in my old Vette it was only the "rag" that needed to be replaced (the rubber-eske doughnut). If this is the case for you, you can get replacements in almost any autoparts store. Look for the "Help" display with all the random parts in red packaging. They have "domestic" and "ford" rag joints. Al Quote
ToTheLimit Posted March 12, 2003 Posted March 12, 2003 Mike When I had the problem at California Speedway I just took the shaft down to a local welding shop and they welded it up ($10) and seems to work ok. I think however I will pick another shaft up at a wrecking yard and fabricate a coupler out of teflon, that should be the way to go. Quote
