kincy Posted March 15, 2003 Posted March 15, 2003 Any word on what caused Don to go Zero Laps?? Perry Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted March 15, 2003 Posted March 15, 2003 Don's read end broke on the parade lap. It will have to be rebuilt - I can relate to that! Quote
ToTheLimit Posted March 15, 2003 Author Posted March 15, 2003 that really sucks..Lets make sure we all keep up with his effort this year and come to see him at the "local" races at Sears/whatever and Laguna this year Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted March 15, 2003 Posted March 15, 2003 Per, I will definitely be there to support Don's CA efforts. The SCCA World Challenge website is pretty good for monitoring his progress at events we can't attend too. After his DNS I was worried, so checked the qualifying notes - he was not involved in any incidents or crashes. Christal, his sister told me what happened. He was pretty disappointed, however, is looking forward to his next race. I was checking out his competition, folks like Boris Said, Rob (was that a typo?) Fellows and even Adam Andretti! I think Don did very well to qualify 22nd. Quote
ToTheLimit Posted March 15, 2003 Author Posted March 15, 2003 Darn...Hope for better times for Don at next race... I will be out there to help at the west coast races..Sears and Laguna Quote
Don Campbell Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 Hello from Sebring. I was surfing around the CMC site and thought I would update everyone. I had lot's of emails and phone calls, all asking what happened? Well, a big wreck between two Porsches during qualifying shortened my efforts. I would have qualified somewhere between 3-7. I was running nose to tail with those cars. However, they already got clean laps in before the yellow flag wreck. I had to lift through two corners and got stuck qualifying 22 out of 33. I was looking forward to charging the field during the race. The really horrific news came at the start of the race. The lights on the starting tree went out and so did my differential. I went to launch the car and the diff just exploded. Damn! My big debut lasted two seconds and I rolled three feet. Thanks to all of the CMC drivers for expressing interest in my season. I can't wait to get back on the track and move forward. Congratulations to Erick Van Wagenen for a strong showing at Cal Speedway in my former car. Don Campbell Quote
ToTheLimit Posted March 16, 2003 Author Posted March 16, 2003 Don Good to hear from you. Better luck next race.. You will kick ass at the west coast races.. Quote
racegroupie Posted March 16, 2003 Posted March 16, 2003 A good place to get information on World Chllenge, Grand Am, Grand Am Cup, TA and ALMS is www.theracesite.com. They have a lot of content and archive an amazing amount of race-related information. There are lots of good links too, and the company that built that website also build sites for other race teams. The site is run by the Nonnamaker family, a Father and two sons team who have many racing championships among them. Extremely nice people. Tell them Deb sent you. Better luck next time, Don. Contact me if you need some help with bios, press kits and marketing -- for free. That way everyone will know exactly what you're up to at all times. Quote
