Adam Ginsberg Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 The only rules I've found until the other day were 2002 CCR's from the NASA Texas site. However, after searching the NASA Pro Racing site yesterday, I discovered the 2003 CCR's. Right click, save as. There is a change WRT tubing for roll cages. Section 15.5.18: 1501 - 2200 lbs.1.500†x 0.095†DOM/Alloy/Seamless 1.500†x 0.120†ERW (No issuance of log books for cars with ERW cages being certified after April 30th, 2003) 2201 - 3000 lbs. 1.500†x 0.120†DOM/Alloy/Seamless 1.750†x 0.095†DOM/Alloy/Seamless 1.750†x 0.120†ERW (No issuance of log books for cars with ERW cages being certified after April 30th, 2003) It looks like if your car has ERW, was inspected and logged prior to 30 April 2003, your considered "grandfathered". If your building a new car, or yours doesn't get inspected by 30 April 2003, you must use DOM. Granted, I haven't checked the main NASA Website lately, but when did this rule change come out? Quote
Tony G Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 This roll cage rule came out in the beginning of this year. It is a safety issue, and was a good idea to start putting in the stronger cages for our types of cars. 90% of our CMC cars have DOM or better. Tony Guaglione CMC Chief Director Quote
Members Al F. Posted April 24, 2003 Members Posted April 24, 2003 DOM or "better"?? Are you talking about that forged pipe I keep hearing about? Quote
