Snakin Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 just looking for a little info to compare with. What are some of the lap times for CMC cars in race trim during a race at Willow Springs? Thanks Brett Quote
Tony G Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 We run 1:36-1:37's. Best time ever is 1:35.3. This is when it is 90 degrees. Tony Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 so you ran when it was cool in the winter...hey, in the early '90's the CalClub Showroom Stock GT guys, Simos, Jackson, etc, ran 1:34's so you guys must have something wrong with your engines..as their's were pure stock...our latest 4th gen. CMC race car is now finished and ready to race..check out the classifieds. Quote
ToTheLimit Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Richard. Having run with the guys in Cal-Club back in the early 90's those cars were pretty darn far from "pure showroom stock" unless you consider Bilmar built 383's pure stock.. Quote
Tony G Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Hey Richard, I know what your showroom stock is... a 383 under the hood.. Hey, don't you owe me dinner for not showing up for the Ford VS Chevy match at Sears that I won against you since you were MIA?? Tony Quote
ToTheLimit Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 FYI my old SSGT car, 88 Camaro ..Ran 1,36's at Willow..with Steve Kelso ( National AS champ) and Mike Cronin (Current Grand Am Cup driver) driving.. On old narrow track at Willow..I had a "legal" 305 Bilmar in car.. RIP Marv AMY..can you still program for us..? Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 OK, OK, I missed the Sears weekend...I was racing at Laguna...so the meal is on me...unless you want to double or nothing it in the Ford vs. Chevy at the season finale at Sears? If it isn't sold by then, I'll bring our brand new build CMC 1993 Z28 racer...a gorgeous silver racer with all our years of experience racing Camaros incorporated into it...this car is bulletproof and is good for a season without anything but new brake pads and gas needed as maintenance...well, maybe a quart or two of oil and a refill of the NOX...rp Quote
NickS Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Hey Richard - Can I get in on this? My old style camaro against your new style camaro? - Nick Quote
Don Campbell Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Hello everyone. My current Willow Springs CMC track record for a race is 134.5. That was with a legal car on Toyos. The car was originally built by Tony G. and then I sold it to Erick Van Wagenen. Erick is now doing very well with the car. There were some times in the 1:33's on better tires and not 100% legal cars. If anyone wants to go testing at Buttonwillow on Friday August 29, I'll be there with my World Challenge Corvette. I'll be giving rides and doing lead/follows. Don Campbell 2002 CMC Season Champion Quote
[email protected] Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Don Cambell: Count me on the 29 Aug date. I'll be there with the mustang. Steve Sparklin, but promise me--- no fires! Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 OK, Nick...that's a great idea, adding your 3rd gen Camaro to the mix...you have to ante up lunch and beer though when you lose to my newere Camaro....matter of fact, let's follow your idea one step farther and invite the "old" mustang too...You and me in 3rd and 4th gen Camaros and Tony and ? in new and old mustangs...that match race should settle once and for all not only which make is fastest but which model too! So who has an "old" mustang that wants to get in on the action? Quote
Tony G Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 I'm thinking Greg Robinson,or Sam Stowell. This will be awesome and will be set for Sunday in a 3 lap race on Nov 9th. Bring your money and get ready to pay up..or you can just send me a check in the mail right now. Tony Quote
ToTheLimit Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 I think the 4th gen F-body would be the best car out there but still put my money on Nicks 3-rd gen...go#45! Richard...just give it up...dont make yourself look like a fool Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Per...I can't help it...it's a way of life making a fool of myself...just genetic I guess...no question the 4th gen camaros are the best cars...real easy to drive for us social security age guys ( a good friend once commented I now look like a western cowboy's grizzled sidekick with my white scruffy beard)...and great handling and brakes in the new Camaros too...why 3 laps instead of 4 or five? can't Mustang engines last any longer than that, Tony?...see you at Sears Quote
ToTheLimit Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Richard! I wish you were out there with us at every race..Need some more gen 4 cars...And so wish we had Laguna on our schedule.. BUT...do not count out Tony...or Sam.. And FYI, since nobody wanted to buy my #88 'Bird... Converting back from AMERICAN MUSTANG ( oops IRON).. to CMC. will be ready for a limited schedule for next season... Quote
Tony G Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Helldin, Way to go!! Can't wait to see the Bird in action next year with CMC. We need another 4th gen F body in the series, (but now I'm going to have to figure out how to get 230HP under my hood). Richard.. Can't wait to kick your (*&*%#) in front of everyone!! I'll do it with one hand tied behind my back.. Tony Quote
ToTheLimit Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Tony...looking forward to see you kick some ass at the showdown at Searsfineon...Even though you drive a 'stang And after our talk in Fernley..Spent all day yesterday working on the 'Bird. . Been sitting outside the shop collecting dust most of the year. .need to loose 200lbs and freshen engine..But.."Lucille" will be up and ready for next year..Ready for CMC action Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Jeez, Tony, I was just planning on bringing our SCCA Showroom Stock B V-6 Camaro, which is enough to take all Mustang comers...by the way, you can get 230 hp under the hood of your race car by putting a big restrictor plate on the engine intake...if anyone is interested in third gen Camaro build up car, there's one locally, 1 1990 Z28 with 110K miles, 5 speed, stripper with lousy interior and terrible paint (GM red, of course) but perfect body for $1200...I'm only buying 4th gens now, so if anyone wants it, call me. 831-622-9024 Quote
