Sketchy Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 Hey guys, ya, I'm new here. Anyways! I was wondering if anyone actually races with a T-Top or Convertable Camaro? I was thinking about my car being a convertable...but then theres the whole chassis stiffness factor... Late! Sketchy Quote
ToTheLimit Posted September 15, 2003 Posted September 15, 2003 Hi Greg Righetti drives a car with T-tops. Todd Covini races a Convertible Mustang and they are both pretty darn competitive. Quote
Greg R. Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Sketchy-I run a t-top car and simply replaced the glass with a single piece of sheet metal. The rules require an additional section of rollbar tubing in the halo for safety however. Weld in your cage and overall body stiffness will be improved. Greg Robinson CMC #12 Mustang Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 On the flip side of this 'vert/t-top scenario, you are also required to wear arm restraints (pain in the butt). In the sun you cook with either option, and get drowned in the rain. I don't miss my t-top race car! Quote
tacovini Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 http://www.hart-photography.com/MotorSports/nasa2003frm.htm While not the ideal race car, I love my 'vert and wouldn't give it up. As you can see from the photos, chassis stiffness issues can be overcome. I miss racing with you guys out West, but we're starting to have some fun here in Texas!!! Quote
