fastjohn Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS LEGAL, OR RECOMENDED FOR KEEPING THE REAR SPRINGS IN PLACE WITH SHORTENED SPRINGS IN THE REAR OF A THIRD GENERATION CAMARO. I'M GUESSING WE CAN'T MODIFY THE SHOCK MOUNTS TO RESTRICT TRAVEL. WE ARE USING KONI ADJUSTABLES IN REAR. THANKS! Quote
Tony G Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 John, I just tie strap the bottom of the springs around the pig tail area and large hole where they sit on, so that they cannot fall out . I never had a problem doing it that way. How is the motor? Tony Quote
fastjohn Posted March 14, 2004 Author Posted March 14, 2004 Motor was junk. Highest compression was 120 in one cylinder. All others were 105 or less. New motor is at the shop, and we should be at the May HPDE to try and get our provisional. Do I have to resubmit any paperwork, or is the old stuff OK? I figured since the CMC group would be there already this would be a good time. This time the car will be sporting a new paint scheme, no see through paint!!! THANKS. Quote
Tony G Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 John, Just let Dave Ho know what you are doing when you register at least 2 weeks before the event. Look forward to seeing you back with a good motor this time. Tony Quote
Members Al F. Posted March 14, 2004 Members Posted March 14, 2004 John, I also use the tie wrap trick on the bottom of the spring. If you do this, sometimes the spring doesn't seat just right when you lower the car, and the first little bump results in it seating with a nice loud WHANG. Just so you're not surprised and think something broke There's a discussion in here somewhere where we talked about this in more detail. You can fab up a droop limiter using light gauge wire rope. I belive Per has this setup, but I don't think its necessary. Quote
