89iroc Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 I'm trying to find rear racing springs for my 3rd gen camaro, I plan on runing CMC, which doesn't allow the use of weight jacks to be used. but I have no luck finding any rear springs without weight jacks which will fit the stock spring perch what are u guys using on for rear springs? I plan on using 190 -200lbs rate. Quote
Tony G Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 Call TC Race cars and order the factory rear SSS pig tail springs at 200 Lbs. Height is around 10" They are only $39 each www.tcracecars.com Tony Quote
Members Al F. Posted July 6, 2004 Members Posted July 6, 2004 That's where I got mine. Pigtail on one end, I think its 5.5" od, whatever rate and length you want. For what its worth, 12" was too tall for me, and 10" was too short... Quote
89iroc Posted July 6, 2004 Author Posted July 6, 2004 Where are the rear spring height taken from? off the car or on the car, from the top to bottom??? Quote
Kevin Hall Posted July 6, 2004 Posted July 6, 2004 They are static-i.e. off the car. 200s seemed a little stiff on our 3rd gen, we're trying 175s this weekend. Use nylon tie wraps to hold them to the bottom perch. We used the 12 inch, without the stock spacers. TC Racecars also has rated springs that fit the front. These guys tend to have about the best prices on everything, and are pretty reliable, I've been buying stuff from them for 4-5 years. Quote
Members Al F. Posted July 7, 2004 Members Posted July 7, 2004 Yeah, I ended up with the 10"ers and adding some aluminum spacers on top. The plus side is they make a nice BLANG sound when the spacers settle into place. Quote
Kevin Hall Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 That's true, doesn't get your attention at all when lowering the car off the jack too fast. I suppose if we were smart, we'd use a chain like the Cup, Busch and trucks to limit the upward travel, so the spring didn't flop around so much, and it would be easier to jack up each side. Would something like that be legal? I may try it...... Quote
bsim Posted July 7, 2004 Posted July 7, 2004 Uuhhhh, OR use a longer spring? Brad <-- soooooper genius Quote
