Richard Pryor1548534703
Hi, James...we haven't met and I haven't seen you race, so if you'd like I'll rephrase my statement: TONY GUAGLIONE IS THE FASTEST MUSTANG DRIVER IN CMC (EXCEPT MAYBE, BUT I DOUBT IT, FOR JAMES GRIFFITH) AND AS A MATTER OF FACT HE'S THE FASTEST CAMARO AND FIREBIRD DRIVER TOO....EXCEPT FOR ME WHEN I CHOSE TO SHOW UP EVERY THREE OR FOUR YEARS.....how's that, James? more what you had in mind? So grab a front row seat Saturday High Noon at Sears point and watch me prove how superior Camaros are to Mustangs...and by inference Mustang drivers, of course...I'm always willing to take on side bets, James....maybe $100 a lap to the Make a Wish Foundation? And by the way, Tony, are those umbrella girls and a hot bikinied trophy girl going to be there to embrace the me as I win our shootout?...RP
Tony G
Oh Yes, they will be there, but I have informed them to wait at my trailer for the pouring of the champagne once my Mustang completes the Camaro Killer task. Heck I'm so positive that I will beat you,and as the gentleman that I am, I will let you start in front of me at least a few car lengths...just to make it a little more fair for you. Richard Pryor1548534703
Hmmmmm...you must have been paying attention at Laguna Seca when I started behind you and then punted you off turn 2 on the first lap (purely an accident as my brakes and tires just weren't operating at full spec yet and my depth perception just isn't what it used to be).....so I'll graciously decline the invitation to start in front of you...and will offer the same invitation to you...you can start in front of me...and don't worry, the Camaro's brakes won't fail twice, I'm positive...now, which one's the brake pedal?...this darn short term memory loss...but I still remember the way to the checkered flag first...rp
Tony Guaglione
I've been thinking long and hard and I just can't keep up the pressure of this shootout anymore....I know Richard and his Camaro are going to kick my butt and I just can't face seeing him fondle those umbrella girls and guzzle that champagne in victory lane...so I admit it...Camaros and Firebirds are the vastly superior CMC race car and Fords are lucky to even be on the same track with them and Richard, even as old and fat and nearsighted as he is, is still ten times the race driver that I am...so I give up and agree to buy the entire CMC field breakfast, lunch and dinner the entire CMC race weekend, arrange for a personal masseuse for every driver, wax every Camaro to perfection and wear a T shirt proclaiming the superiority of Chevies over Fords...matter of fact, my dog of a Mustang racer is for sale for cheap just so I can get another Camaro CMC racer to I at least have a chance of keeping Richard and other Camaros in sight....SO I ADMIT IT...RICHARD IS THE KING OF DRIVERS AND CAMAROS ARE THE FASTEST RACE CARS IN CMC...Tony (I've finally seen the light) Guaglione
Members Al F.
The funny part is you've probably already gotten at least ten emails asking you how much for the Mustang.
Tony G
Come on look a little closer..do you really think I posted that Chevy crap... I'm going to Kill you Richard !!!!!!!!!!! Tony
Richard Pryor1548534703
Al, I doubt Tony could even sell that Mustang on eBay except as a parts car....yeah, I couldn't resist having "Tony Guaglione" post what the real Tony G is going to admit after our shoot out at Sears Point...this is just foreshadowing of the real event and Tony's race forced admission of Camaro superiority when I lead him across the finish line...we'll be testing the car at the SCCA Laguna Seca races this weekend...if anyone is in the neighborhood stop by and say hello...we'll be the guys wearing the Mom, Apple Pie, Chevy and Rock and Roll T shirts....rp
Kevin Hall
Hey, This is pretty fun. The board was getting dull. I can't wait to meet Richard, he seems to understand the true nature of all things automotive. Sears Point should be a lot of fun. Since Mr. Pryor brought up Laguna Seca, what are the chances we'll run there again? I got 2 laps in my Corvette two years ago during the Historics, and am dying to run there with the Camaro. Tony G
I am working on Laguna for next year! And even though its in Richards back yard, and he practically lives there..he still has no chance..so don't even start.. Tony
Kevin Hall
Way cool! The G&H Racing fan club (Holly and Debbie) seem to think a weekend in Monterey would be superior to the lush, natural beauty of Willow Springs, or the rural, agricultural charm of Buttonwillow. I don't know what they are thinking.
Richard Pryor1548534703
For those of you who haven't raced at Laguna lately, the race track is owned by the Monterey County Parks and Recreation Dept. and they've been spending millions of Mazda's naming rights money on the spectator and participant amenities. There's a dynamite campground above and around the race track, permanent shower and toilets, great grand stands, lots of grass and a permanet lake (remember parking in the dry lake bed for the October CanAm races?). If CMC gets a race date for 2005 this is one race weekend that everyone should make as not only is Laguna Seca one of the best tracks I've ever run, the surrounding Monterey Peninsula offers a great vacation for all ages from the Monterey Bay Acquarium to the Big Sur coastline...and miles and miles of shops, restaurants and galleries in Carmel...and golf courses galore...matter of fact, how about a Mustang vs. Camaro golf tournament?...that's the only way a Mustang driver will win at Laguna as I intend to win all four races when and if there is ever a CMC race at Laguna...so get on it Tony....you do remember what happened the last time we raced at Laguna?...rp
Richard Pryor1548534703
Yes, I know, that's "aquarium", for which I can arrange some free passes for CMC families if and when....and there are permanet BBQ facilities at the track, but for Saturday night dinner I fully expect Tony to buy at Chevy's for everyone after I followup my shoot out victory at Sears with one at Laguna (you know he'll want a rematch after losing at Sears.)..rp
Members Al F.
Its interesting that they would spend so much money on the track facilities considering they don't actually like it when the track is used
Kevin Hall
Richard, You're right about the nice facilities. This will be the first year we won't be camping on the hill overlooking the track during the Historics in many years. Running the Camaro ate up our travel budget not to mention work will take me off to Seattle that week. (I'm in Knoxville right now). I've wanted to run through the corkscrew in a race car since we were there for the first Maserati year. My friends who vintage race Mini-Coopers (sick, I know) love running up there. What a deal, a Chevy guy, and living near Laguna Seca, no wonder Tony's feeling nervous. Kevin Hall #82 Camaro
Richard Pryor1548534703
As Paul Harvey would say, "and now the rest of the story"...Kevin the reason there is no CMC race at Laguna is not because NASA makes more $$ at tracks where the sanction fee is way cheaper, it's because Tony has absolutely no intention of facing me at Laguna Seca again...he knows that at Sears Point he won't be too badly humiliated in our three lap shootout (a half lap lead by me at the checker should be about right) but at Laguna Seca where I've been racing since 1969 and could drive the track blindfolded, he would end up being so far behind you'd think his Mustang was running on 7 cylinders (which it has been know to do frequently)....so blame Mustangs for there being no Laguna Seca race on the calendar...as a matter of fact let's add this to the bet for the Sears Shootout race....when I win, NASA must schedule a CMC race at Laguna next year....that way it's a sure thing....and what's this I hear about Russian umbrella girls? Adam Ginsberg
If CMC runs @ Laguna Seca in 2005, count one Texas CMC driver IN! I've wanted to run there as long as I can remember.
Richard Pryor1548534703
It looks like we're going to have our 2000 Camaro V-6 car for SCCA Showroom Stock B ready in time for the Sears Point shootout with Tony....since it only makes around 175 bhp at the rear wheels this should give Tony a fighting chance....this way he should only be two or three hundred yards back at the checker...and if it's OK I'll run this in the CMC races too over the weekend...not for points of course as I wouldn't want to take 4 first place points finishes from CMC regulars....oh, and don't worry about breathing my exhaust, Tony, this SSB car runs with full smog and cats...and still gets 25mpg on regular in racing trim...and it still has the A/C so I don't even have to worry about the weather...rp
Tony G
Yeah and Blah Blah Blah... See you at the finish line...oh, by the way, your finish line will be about half a lap behind mine. I wonder if you are really going to show,as past history has had you defaulting the past few times (but then again I don't blame you for not showing up since you are racing against a Mustang). Richard Pryor1548534703
Well, you're right, Tony, I do skip races if the weather is wet or over 85 degress or under 60 degrees...I used to race in all those conditions, even snowed once at Sears Point in February, but just for you I'll be there no matter what the temperature (after all the Camaro has great A/C if it's hot and windshield wipers and a heater if it's wet...though in that case I'll never see you during the shootout as the rear windown does fog over since the rear window defroster is disconnected when we installed the nitrous in the trunk...purely for weight balance of course)...the other great thing abuot the 4th gen camaros is the poly front fenders...you can "touch" another car and they don't even dent...I've been watching the replay of the Sears Point nascar race and there are a few lessons I've learned from those guys about how to pass in turn 11...so I might let you lead the first lap until I can test the theories of such noted drivers as Tony Stewart and Jimmy Spencer in passing techniques in crowded corners...it should be interesting....you can talk and bluster all you want about how great a race car the mustang is but in your heart you must be in despair over having to be humiliated in front of friends and family in this "put up or shut up race"...as part of my pre-race preparation I've consulted a local, well known psychologist, Dr. Sigmund Fraud, and when explaining your irrational belief that you think you can beat me in your Mustang, all he had to say was, "Dot man ith crazy!!!"...you heard it from the good doctor...you better make sure Sue and the kids stay away from the races that weekend as you won't be able to take the crushing defeat in front of your family without serious mental instability (which is a common problem known to all who race Mustangs)....yours in good mental health (rx..drive a camaro)....Dr. GM Feelgood
Tony G
Ok,your on,just show up and talk to Sigmund after the race..you will need him. By the way,the summer squash, watermelon, and other gifts were GREAT!! Tony
Kevin Hall
Richard, You were doing great until you mentioned learning tricks about passing at Sears Point from Jimmy Spencer. Pretty much everyone knows that he hates road courses, and for the last few years there has always been a road racer in whatever car he normally runs at the road courses. Kevin Harvick and Rotten Robbie Gordon, now they can give you a few pointers on full contact racing. I recall determining to let someone know how I felt about a bump and run, the only problem is the guy was so fast, I couldn't underbrake enough going into turn 3 to test Kenny Schrader's theory "that 8 tires are better than 4". Maybe at Sears Point. We used to make disparaging remarks about Jimmy until he punched Kurt Busch and got suspended last year. That was probably the best thing he ever did to jump start his career. One of the high points of being at last year's Bristol night race was letting Kurt know how we and 160,000 others felt about his win. Never a good idea to punt Sterling Marlin when you are racing in Tennessee. Kevin "I wanna race'" Hall #82 Camaro
