Rule questions and one setup question

Rule question: is it allowed to install a 92 Mustang powertrain package into a 94 body? This would include engine, tranny, and the electrical system.

8.30.2. No transmission modifications are allowed other than the changing of gear ratios

This means that the .8 fifth gear may be used in the T-5?

Now, would any of you Mustang drivers give out what rear gear you use?

If the optional fifth is not allowed I figure 3.73 should be ok for everywhere except Fontana. Is this in the ballpark?

Cosmo,

You are correct, rule 8.30.2 enables you to run a .8 to 1 fifth gear ratio. I have a .8 fifth in my TPI camaro with a 3.42 gear and ran 4750 rpm through 1 & 2 at Fontana.

Hope this helps

Cosmo...rule 8.3 allows updating/backdating of non-body components within cars of the same manufacturer on the eligible model list. Rule 4 states that 79-95 V8 non-Cobra Mustangs are an elligible model. Therefore, you're allowed to use any non-body component from any 79-95 V8 non-Cobra Mustang in a 94 body. This includes engine, trans, etc.

Thanks Al, I saw the part about engines and transmissions, but I wanted to make sure about the electrical system. I didn't think of that rule.

Wait a minute..

Cosmo are you building a car for CMC ???

That would be way cool to see you out there with us!

By the way I run a 3.73 rear and the .83 5th.

There is a car being assembled with CMC rules in mind. It may or may not ever race, but CMC fit the bill much better than AI being that stock parts are so easy for me to get a hold of.
