3rd Gen GTA Wheel Weight?

Recommended Posts

I did a search at thirdgen.org to see how much the GTA wheels weigh and I got 4 answers - 9, 11, 17 and 21 lbs. Anyone know the real answer?

Sorry, no prizes given. Just a "thank you".

Are you implying that these wheels are typically out of balance?

17lbs,that is the normal on these.

Hey wait I'm supposed to be at the track testing like everyone else so I can try to win the championship this year...

Think I'll just wing it and get there in the morning skip the practice then qualify and see what happens ( man if my driving partner knew this he would blow a gasket) but he's in Mexico so what the hell...

The 4th gen "salad shooter" weigh 16 lbs and are available readily at 25$ or less per wheel and won't require spacers.

So I am a at a bit of a loss figuring out why you are trying to make 3rd gen wheels work.

Don't we have a rule that requires stock diameter, width and backspacing or is the backspacing (offset) free of a rule.

Perry...they do not! That's it, I'm going out to the trailer and grabbing one tonight...I think the salad shooters weigh more like 21 lbs. All the 4th gen wheels I've weighed were 21 lbs...hmmm...all the 4th gen wheels I've weighed, I've weighed on the same scale....hmmmm

We have to run the stock size, 16x8. Offset is "free". 4th gen offsets are 56mm. 3rd gen offsets are 0mm front and 16mm rear. These wheels increase the track width of the car by roughly 2 inches. In addition, the GTA 3rd gen wheels are supposedly significantly lighter (and it's rotating mass). Except for a little higher cost, it's a win-win situation. I will only need spacers until I wear down by new rotors and pads. In fact, I drove around for a while in my '95 Formula with the 3rd gens on there without any problems until I changed the front pads and rotors.
