Lady in Nomex Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Thanks everyone for a great time! It was great to be back and in the thick of it again! I wanted to commend the first year drivers as I saw them in the beginning of the season and now at the end, you guys have really come a long way!!! It is a testament to CMC to have folks develop their skills so fast. Our large groups and close competition with drivers at different skill levels are the key IMHO. Looking forward to next season! Robert Canine Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 A friend brought me to see the CMC races at Thunderhill this weekend and I was absolutely speechless. The competition was incredible and the people extremely friendly to me, a complete stranger. What a great group. As a result I'm going to join the CMC group next year. I've never raced a car before though I've ridden in the passenger side a few times and loved it. Even though it seems that the majority of people seem to favor Camaros on this bulletin board, it seems that the undisputed fastest car on the track was a Mustang. Which is the best car for a driver with absolutely no experience? Thanks, Bob. Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Hi Bob, Thank you for the great feedback! Looking forward to seeing you next season. I think the answer to your question is: The best car for a beginner is a well-sorted CMC car. This is the easiest for a beginner to drive because you are not chasing set-up and can focus purely on your driving. I think the fastest car in this series is whichever car the fastest driver gets in. Tony G. has proven that driving both marques. Thanks to our well-thought out rules the cars are pretty even. Quote
Robert Canine Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Thanks, Julie. I was really impressed with how much fun everyone had and how close the competition was, especially the four car bumper-to-bumper first race on Sunday. I couldn't believe that the really old guy, Pat Stone, won. I guess talent stays with you. And the final race won by Tony Guaglione was awesome to see him pass all those Cobras. I heard he set a new track record by over 1.5 seconds. WOW. I guess it doesn't matter which car I race as Tony won in a Mustang (is it really for sale as I'm interested if it is) and Pat won in a Camaro. See you all at the April 9-10 CMC race at Infineo Raceway in some sort of a CMC race car. Bob Quote
Tony G Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 What a great weekend, perfect weather, super fast record breaking lap times, extra close racing, great dinner get together on Saturday night too. Thanks Julie for the kind words! Working on the race report and the schedule for next year. Cheers, Tony Guaglione Quote
