Tony G Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Here is what I have come up with so far: Seven race weekends instead of 8 so attendance goes up and the super high heat races in July and Sept. are gone. Laguna...maybe but no dice yet. Two races in October, but they are still 3 weeks apart which should be plenty of time to get your car ready. 80% will count, so 3 races times 7 weekends makes 21 races, 80% will equal 17 races. I am hoping this takes a little stress off trying to make all the races this next year, so if you only go to 6 weekends you have a great shot at the championship. March 12/13 Cal Speedway April 9/10 Infineon May 14/15 Thunderhill June 11/12 Buttonwillow August 6/7 Infineon October 8/9 Buttonwillow October 29/30 Thunderhill Thanks, Tony Guaglione CMC Chief Director Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 This is a great schedule Tony! Thanks for putting this together! Quote
bsim Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 So we lost a south race, huh? Sucks for us. Great for the northern folks I guess. And 2 T-Hill dates are nasty drives, vs. a hot summer date. I never thought I'd say this, but bring back the July Willow Springs date. Quote
Carson Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 I too ,would like to see a willowsprings weekend "the fastest track in the west" ... or how about another Buttonwillow ...as far as HOT goes, Infineon can be HOT in aug ... just my two cents worth.... Quote
Robert Canine Posted November 18, 2004 Posted November 18, 2004 Great schedule. If a Laguna Seca CMC date doesn't become available in 2005, there is the July 22-24 SCCA regional at Laguna which doesn't conflict with any CMC dates. Friday is open practice and racing on Saturday and Sunday. You'll need an SCCA license, which many CMC racers already possess. Otherwise SCCA will issue a Regional license to CMC racers. CMC runs with ITE and the top 5 are usually faster than CMC but CMC can always run as a subclass. I'll be racing there in our new 4th gen Camaro CMC car and will see you at the NorCal CMC races. Tim Bullock Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Mike: Tried to understand your post. I guess you to mean that Kyle is taking over driving duties in '05. Quote
Tony G Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 My 3 cents: You can go to Willow if you want to, but it won't be a points race. 80% of the CMC field is still Northern, and yet only 60% of the races are Northern. There was a time when CMC was only Northern, and we have pretty much split it 50/50 which it is near that now. With only 7 races it should be much easier to make at least 6 of them now, which is the reason we did this,to actually make this easier on you . PS. I did not make this schedule a Northern/Southern issue, but went for the best tracks at the best time of the year. By the way I'm still working on Laguna,so take a pill. Make sense? Tony Quote
acmikee Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Tony, let us know about the laguna date we would have to modify our exhaust to meet sound but i'm sure all of the FFR's would like to run it........mike #31 FFR Quote
ToTheLimit Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 I will be back in 2005.. Great schedule....I will miss Willow Springs..But will Run there with Porsche Club anyway...Laguna Seca..PLEASE..Find a date (Or I will have to run with Richard in SCCA) Quote
Kevin Hall Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Robert, Thanks for the info on Laguna Seca, July is a great time to go to Monterey, and if we would be allowed to run with our NASA licenses, that would be great. I'll miss Willow Springs as well. Close to home, and real fast. But...Can't beat California Speedway for close and fast. I love the long dogleg and the banking on 1 and 2. Imagine running at Daytona or Talladega, with 3 times the banking as California. Kevin Hall #82 Camaro Quote
Snakin Posted January 10, 2005 Posted January 10, 2005 What happened ?? Is there an error on the CMC 2005 Schedule which now shows that the Oct 8/9 weekend is now at Infineon instead of Buttonwillow ??? Or is the CMC schedule correct, meaning only 2 SoCal events, (Cal Speedway in March and Buttonwillow in June) and 5 NorCal events ??? Could someone clarify this please? Quote
Tony G Posted January 10, 2005 Author Posted January 10, 2005 Hi Brett, We were just checking to see if your paying attention...nice job! I'll get Al to fix HIS mistake... It will be at Buttonwillow as first stated. Tony Quote
Members Al F. Posted January 10, 2005 Members Posted January 10, 2005 Brett You're right, there is a mistake on the Cal schedule. The June event is actually at Laguna, making it 6 NorCal events and only 1 SoCal event. You don't mind the drive do ya? Sorry about that guys, I fixed the schedule mistake tonight. October is indeed in Buttonwillow. Quote
Richard Pryor Posted January 14, 2005 Posted January 14, 2005 OK, Al, the re-arrangement of these pages must have thrown off some people, or everyone is in on the joke but me. Seriously, is the June 11-12 CMC race really at Laguna Seca? I thought all the reconfiguration work was scheduled for that period. Is it true? Members Al F. Posted January 14, 2005 Members Posted January 14, 2005 Geez Richard...of all the people I thought would pick up on a joke right off the bat... The schedule is right on the 2005 schedule page, no Laguna for CMC this year as of now. Nasa does have a one day HPDE (groups 2-4 only, no first timers) at Laguna though. Its March 1st, a tuesday, and it costs $279 for one day. Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Thanks, Al, I went back and checked and found the CMC Laguna Seca race scheduled for Sept.30, Oct 1,2 for a three day extravaganza on my home track including Friday practice, multiple practice and qualifying sessions and two half hour races. And it's the first race of the CMC Taco Bell Challenge with $1500 going to the winner and payouts to 10th place. Of course, there is one catch....rp Quote
Lewis Tanner Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 And it's the first race of the CMC Taco Bell Challenge with $1500 going to the winner and payouts to 10th place. Of course, there is one catch....rp Ginsberg is always up for some Taco Bell. You should invite him. Quote
Adam Ginsberg Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 Don't ever take a road trip with Lewis, especially when sharing a car. He'll try to poison you. Quote
Guest Posted February 5, 2005 Posted February 5, 2005 For those (especially those with F Bods) don't forget the West Coast F Body GTG (first since Vegas98) over July 4th weekend at Buttonwillow. No points for anyone just lots of FBuds and 2days of racing and a day or nite of dragracing and barbecuing. So to avoid withdrawal during July plan to attend and lets see if we can get some FBuds interested in the real ontrack events as future CMCers. Many of us did our first ontrack stuff at Vegas98. Lets grow another generation of racers. We really will appreciate all the licensed racers helping as instructors during the HPDE heats. (Even licensed racers with Fords) Perry Quote
Kevin Hall Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 So the June 11/12 race is at Laguna Seca???? Between that and Chaparral being the honored Marque this year Monterey is the place to be this summer. Kevin Quote
