rzaron53 Posted November 23, 2004 Posted November 23, 2004 I just ordered a Momo cup GT seat for about $450. Did any of you guys tear the sliders out of the stock seat and bolt your racing seat to that? Or do you custom fab something up? I kinda want to keep it ajustable. This whole message board thing is pretty handy. Thanks, -Ron Quote
Members Al F. Posted November 24, 2004 Members Posted November 24, 2004 Ron I'd say at least 1/3 of the CMC field has rigged adjustable seats. You can buy sliders made specifically for that seat. Remember, when you have sliders, your back brace will also have to be able to adjust. Quote
rzaron53 Posted November 24, 2004 Author Posted November 24, 2004 I bought an FIA legal seat so I don't need a back brace right? The guy that sold me the seat said that the universal slider won't work and that I should make my own from the stock seat. Weak. Quote
Robert Canine Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 Sube Motorsports in SoCal sells adjustable sliders made just for racing seats...I bought one for my Sparco for $150...not cheap but real strong and adjustable...you're right, you don't need back seat brace for FIA rated seats Quote
rzaron53 Posted November 25, 2004 Author Posted November 25, 2004 They would not sell the slider to me without buying a seat! Apparently my $160 bucks is no good at Sube Sports. Anybody else offer a similar product that you guys can recommend? Quote
Robert Canine Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 no sweat, they get it from someone else...i'll check the box over the weekend and post the manufacturer for you..it's really a good unit...it fit perfectly in our new 4th gen camaro CMC car..rc Quote
Carson Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 blow out sale at IO PORT www.IOPortRacing.com Dec 1st only .they have seat brackets also up to 25% off on some stuff Quote
bsim Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Don't get Al started on the FIA spec. Essentially what he's saying is that you may have an FIA approved seat, but if you mount it with bubblegum, it's not FIA certified. The seat must be mounted to 'FIA spec' as well to get the seat back brace exemption. Technically speaking that is... Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted November 27, 2004 Posted November 27, 2004 Thanks Carson for reminding folks about IO Port's killer sale. Looks like I'll be buying another Kirkey road race seat as part of my order. His Redline prices for that sale are hard to beat also. As for mounting seats, see the NASA CCRs, this is a very important part of safety. My mantra.... "Accidents aren't planned, safety is." Quote
rzaron53 Posted December 20, 2004 Author Posted December 20, 2004 So.....who sells the adjustable sliders made just for racing seats? Inquiring minds need to know. Thanks, -Ron Quote
