HOW DO I GET STARTED IN CMC RACING?

Hi. I just joined the board after reading it for a few years wishing I could join the CMC racers as it's been a lifelong dream. Well, I just won the lottery and have $25,000 to fund my CMC racing career before I move up to SPEED GT in a Corvette. I've never raced before but my friends are scared to ride with me so I know I'm good and fast and when I saw that you guys lap speeds are only 75-85 mph I know I could win all the races as I often hit 145 on the street. But I don't know what car to buy. A Mustang or a Camaro. Which one would I need to win the CMC Championship in 2005? And if you have a winning car for sale let me know. Thanks. CMC 300

Oh.. Ok.. I see..well hmm.. really the only car that you would be able to drive would be a Camaro since you are a rookie, as a Mustang would be WAY too fast for you to handle right now.

I'll actually bet you the pink slip to my Mustang that if you show up and beat me in a Camaro you can trailer my car home for free..even better yet I'll deliver it to you.

..But , If I beat you then I get your car (even though its a GM product )and at least I could strip it down and sell the parts on Ebay for a few hundred dollars.....Sound good??

Thank you for the advice, Mr. Guaglione. I know you're joking because Richard Pryor has told me how he blew your Mustang into the weeds at your Sears Point match race last year with a borrowed Camaro and one hand tied behind his driving seat. He's even offered to sell me a CMC race car for $25,000 and include an extra set of used brake pads. Sounds like a good deal to me as I really don't expect to brake much when I'm racing. Look for me on the pole at the first race and in first place in every 2005 CMC race in the fuschia and mauve colored #300 Firebird. You can engrave my name on the 2005 CMC Championship trophy right now. To prepare for the season I'm practicing at the Malibu Grand Prix track where I work part time. I take my Ford Vistaliner station wagon out there ( loaded with my loaded buddies in the back for weight transfer) and go as fast as I can before my Pep Boy retreads separate (but it's like running on slicks then so I keep going until they explode.) OK, polish your Mustang as I'm gong to humiliate you at the first CMC race. Hey, and I hear there's free food BBQ's at CMC races, too. Sounds like a great, friendly group. Hope everyone can keep smiling when I set lap record after lap record and then go into SPEED GT and get interviewed on Dave Despain's Wind Tunnel TV show. CMC 300

Hey, I'm for real...it's just those other voices in my head that I'm not so sure of....and they sure don't help me on the track telling me to brake later and try passes on the outside of turn 10 at Sears Point. Actually it's all you guys out there that aren't real.

And so it begins. Another exciting year of Trash Talk on the BB, and Great Racing when we get to the track. Now , all we have to do is get R.P. out of his comfort zone and down to Cal Speedway. Come on Richard. No rain, no Monterrey fog, no excuses...(Just pray for no Santa Ana winds, tho). Esse' #81... P.S. For those new to the board, or from out of the area; It's always like this. Your one-stop shop for good advice, and bad jokes. Although, with a name like Richard Pryor, you Have to at least try.

Hey, I'm thinking about joining CMC, too. I didn't win the lottery but I've made a few dollars as a cop in Beverly Hills and am ready to show you guys and gal the tricks I learned on Rodeo Drive. In fact in 48 hours I expect to be able to build a car from scratch and win my first race without even trading places. See you Saturday night, live. And I have it on the highest authority that the Camaros are the cars to win with.
