CMC Team Covini/Breitenbach Announced

Team Covini/Breitenbach has formed to accept the 2005 Texas Camaro-Mustang Challenge in an effort to secure their first-ever CMC Championship.

Teammates Todd Covini and Neil Breitenbach will share the 2005 driving duties in the Texas series utilizing the #2 Mobil 1 Mustang which has been campaigned in CMC (and other road racing events) since 1996.

Todd Covini is currently the NASA Texas AI & CMC Series Director. In 2004 he once again finished 2nd in his quest for a CMC Championship trophy. (Covini’s closest 2nd place bid for the CMC championship was in 1999 when Greg Righetti gained enough track position on the last lap of the last race at Sears Point to disappointedly take the CMC championship trophy away.) Mr. Covini currently resides in Spring, TX with his wife, Sheryl, and children Julia and Tony.

Neil Breitenbach has been on hiatus from road racing for 2 years, however brings an impressive background in sedan racing to the team. Neil also raced in NorCal CMC from 1997 to 2002. In addition to CMC competition, Mr. Breitenbach has also competed in Motorola Cup and Grand-American races in Firebirds, Mustangs and BMWs at various US tracks, including a podium finish at Daytona. Neil Breitenbach currently resides in Tampa, FL with his wife Darlene.

Covini & Breitenbach are rejoining forces after both piloting the #2 Mobil 1 Mustang as part of a team effort which took home a 3rd place finish in the 2000 12 hours of Thunderhill.

Team Covini/Breitenbach has now set the 2005 Texas CMC Championship as their ultimate goal in hopes of adding another name to the perpetual Texas CMC Trophy of Champions.

You guys in TX should be shakin' in your pointy boots! Best of luck you guys!

Not scared!;) The 200k+ mile untouched 5.0 is commin' for ya! Okay, well I might not make a full season until 2006, but beware!:) Just kidding, and congrats on the partnership! Hopefully that let's you both focus on one solid car and make both of you even better drivers. I can easily see you two winning a championship in '05!

Todd is tired of always being a bridesmade, and never the bride. He needed someone to drive his car fast.

Not to mention the new team name is perfect. BC Racing. BullCrap Racing.

Hey guys. I'm looking forward to getting back in the saddle again. I've been away from racing so long I hope I remember how to do it. Can't wait to meet everyone. Should be a fun weekend. --Neil

Brad,

I know this may be hard to fathom, but CMC exists outside of California and beyond this CMC forum now.

I don't mean to sound harsh, and don't mean to pick on you, but I'll get on my soapbox for the benefit of everyone.

If we want a national CMC racing series, we have to start thinking "nationally". CMC was started almost 10 years ago. American Iron began half as long ago and have frankly kicked CMC's butt in marketing their series. Locally, you guys probably aren't seeing it....but in the other states AI is carrying the marketing flag for CMC.

Mention CMC in a local speed shop, or Ford dealer...you get a glossed over look. Mention American Iron, and the lights go on and people relate. (Still amazes me here in Texas!) AI drivers are simply better at marketing themselves and the series....there...I said it. But it doesn't have to be that way.

To answer your question, my announcement was/will be "immediately released" to a large number of people, websites, magazines and forums all over the country. I posted it here as a courtesy, but you guys already know how great the series is.

-=- Todd

PS- I'm surprised Matt King's articles in Hot Rod haven't been brought up as a huge help to the series. Guess maybe that was too far beyond the scope of California and this forum.

Ah, the little brother feels his oats!

It's cool, really, you guys just need your chops busted every once in a while! Sheesh!

Keep drinkin' your milk kid...

Send out more announcements beyond the trackside concession stand and this forum and maybe magazines like Hot Rod and GRM will pick up on them.

All the smart CMC drivers are bringing the ringers to the table in an effort to take the trophy this season.

Check out this month's GRM for a nice CMC write-up regarding one of our Kal-ee-fourn-ya racers.

Don't worry about us, we get around...

Awesome Brad!!! I can't wait to see it.

Sorry if I was a bit argumentative last nite. I was having fun with you but realized today that after being involved with 2 labor arbitrations in the past two weeks, perhaps I was starting to "take my work home with me".

I'll lighten up.

Now as to Mr. Tanner's post...who else is bringing a "ringer" to co-drive on a Team this year??? I'm not aware of any others!

I'm proud to announce that in the goal of winning the CMC championship in California, Texas and the galaxy, I will have two "retired" drivers in the #27 Camaro for 2005. Driving chores will be shared by father and son duo Michael and Mario Andretti. They will enter exactly as many races as I did last year in their quest for the championship. Sponsorship comes from another ringer, a-1 Alarms. hmm,now how do I hit the delete button here instead of post..
