alexands
The AI website (http://www.americanironracing.com) describes CMC as "stock and smog legal engines along with "spec" springs, shocks, tires, and brakes." I don't gather this from reading the 2005 rules. Spec tires yes, but not the other stuff. Am I missing something or is the AI site incorrect? THanks, Scott
bsim
We *can* have smog legal motors, but "stock" meaning no engine mods. Their descriptions of "spec" springs shocks, brakes means that we have guidlines on what modifications we can do, none of these are 'open' rules. Brakes must be 12" or less, stock configurations. Springs must be stock type, but rates are open. Shocks must be under a certain $$$ limit. Does that help?
alexands
Thanks, Brad. Your answer confirms what I thought, but I think they have used the word "spec" different than how I would define it. I always think of spec is you are given specific parameters for a given component (i.e. name brand, size, rate, etc..). Because spring rates are free I wouldn't refer to those as spec items.
