Maybe it's in the rules somewhere, just haven't found it yet. What are teh rules regarding the fuel that can be run in CMC? Pump gas only, or can we run a tuolene (sp??) mixture to increased octain?

Pump gas only. Considering you're not allowed to increase compression, increasing octane will yield nothing other than a faster drain on your wallet.

At our power levels, Al is 100% correct. Anything more than 93 octane is a waste of money.

93 octane? What's that? Out here in CA we have 91, a couple of years ago we had 92.

Texas, and Oklahoma enjoy 93 octane. And lots of it.

I drove through Colorado a couple of years ago and their premium was 89, yes 89 with 83-85 for regular and 87 and midgrade.

At many if not all of our west coast tracks they sell race gas at the pump, so is that legal?

I only ask because I was considering useing some to help prevent detination since my car is always overheating.

I've used it in my old car for just that purpose, James. Legal? I thought so - it does come out of a pump...

For better running cars though, I think it's overkill - and at twice the cost I think it's a waste...

I understand that race fuel is leaded and leaded fuel will harm (ie needs to be replaced) your O2 sensor in a EFI/TPI car..that WILL cause overheating and screw up air-fuel ratio.... carson

Well, you can get 96 and 100 octane unleaded fuel. Is that race fuel?

As far as lead, you are correct if it's a street car, but the O2 sensors don't see much action on a race car.
