Wolf1548534715
Hi: Can anyone tell me where to get my (car's) rear end modified for camber and caster? It's a 3rd gen Camaro. I'm near Sacramento so west coast sources are preferred. Thanks
luckenbach
If you get Herb Adams' book chassis engineering, there is a section on rear end alignment and he tells how to do it yourself with a torch.
Richard Pryor1548534703
And I've got a box of these books for $25 each postpaid...they're worth a second a lap. We also camber and toe the rears at our shop in Carmel but it'll cost you $500 (however, we'll throw in a free copy of the book)...richard 'more oxygen, scottie" Pryor
Wolf1548534715
I'm not sure if I want to try this myself but I would be interested in a copy of the book to get an idea of what is involved. Where do I send the chack?

Guest
I don't think it's legal to bend diff's. for the purpose of making the car go faster but i can bend them back in to spec. should it be out wink/wink Give me a call 510- 233-1448
Richard Pryor1548534703
Sam is absolutely correct. Cambering and toeing a rear end is strictly in the interest of safety, much like high temp coatings, and we just make certain the rear housings are absolutely to specifications the way they left the factory...1/2 degree negative camber and a tad toe in and voila, factory specs...don't let your torch linger too long in the wrong place or you'll end up with a 1.5 neg camber rear real easy....Richard "what's a few degrees among friends" Pryor
Guest
Didnt I see Al checking rear ends with a camber gauge on cmc pit row at Infinion last summer ?? carson ( in God we trust all others pay cash )..
Wolf1548534715
Thanks for all the info. Richard: The check is in the mail. I've seen Tony's car and he does drive it... but I'm pretty sure somebody did some work on it at some point It doesn't look like the ones in the showroom. Besides I need something to do while I'm waiting for the phone to ring.
Richard Pryor1548534703
Nope, you're wrong...Tony's car is EXACTLY like the ones in the showroom...like Rousch Ford, Holman and Moody Ford, ....
