Glenn Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 i would like to hear what you thought about the event w/ regards to: rules compliance and uniformity. trends you saw region to region as far as interpretation of the rules. overall level of competition. group unity. seemed like to me there was no tension betweem regions. i liked the vote we took w/ regards to wheels and the result. shows that most of us are here to have fun and not win @ all cost. anyways, seems you've been a little quiet since and i would like to here your thoughts. you know, a state of the union address. and i dropped the payment for the rear brakes in the mail. bsim Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Tension between regions? Heh - as much as we complain here, we're all in for the same fun. I think Mitch was surprised when I came over to the Texas "compound" and greeted him with a grin. I'm actually surprised that we haven't heard any smack talk about how "so-and-so beat so-and-so"! I'd like to add that I personally was impressed by the quality of the drivers/competition. This is my 4th year, and I can't recall any time that the WHOLE group was within a handful of seconds from eachother. Hell, I've never been only 2 seconds behind James out here. 1:45's by half the field? Insane! Quote
mitchntx1548534714 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 I think Mitch was surprised when I came over to the Texas "compound" and greeted him with a grin. The grin was a welcome site AFTER I saw the closed fist. Quote
Keith Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 My $0.02 on the differences between regions? With all of the acrimony about various things in the rules over time, I found that cars were mostly in compliance and more than I expected. We bitch but we also mostly play along. The Nationals also bolstered one of my opinions - some of the rules are difficult to police and likely unnecessary. Tension between regions? I can't imagine how. It's the first time we met... Quote
Tri-Agan Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Keith.....come play with us Oct 14th and 15th at Summit Point....you will have an absolute blast. Kent Quote
Renntag1548534718 Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 yeah, I'll second that. I have been trying to get keith to come down to summit. COME ON DOWN !!! My .02 $ : I think everything went well. Everyone was professional. It was great to meet those of you that I was able to meet. Curious to hear Tony's take on the big picture. Quote
Tony G Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Ok Glenn, and thanks for asking me what I thought of it all. Let me answer your questions in order: Rules compliance and uniformity.. I thought it was extremely important to have a race weekend like this to see what the other half is doing and is it the same as your half. I like what I saw and I really did not see a big difference in the regions cars which was really good to see,and think about it, the top 5 fast ones were from three regions pretty much split up,pole setters like Aaron really showed who was boss early on,but then after a few runs it got really tight and it was anyones game to be had. Trends you saw region to region as far as interpretation of the rules: Ok I saw some things that we all saw that were probably a little more laxed than in the West Coast only because of getting the region in your area started up and letting them in, as I know when CMC started in the West, it was bring it on and lets see how it works..it then developed from there to what we have today.I think everyone understands the rules and gets it now ( even Mitch)..I had to say that Mr Cat! Group unity, seemed like to me there was no tension between regions: Right you are ..I think we all fit like a glove together which is amazing I don't think any other group of guys could get along so well so fast..but hell that is what CMC is all about.Next year we will make sure we all park together as one giant group and Kent Lydic will bring the kegs. I liked the vote we took w/ regards to wheels and the result. shows that most of us are here to have fun and not win @ all cost. Yes, I took a huge gamble on doing that, as it was either group unity or start sending people home, and as I have always said when this is not fun anymore than I'm gone, people that know me well always hear me say are you having a great time or what!! This is real hard close racing at its best, but off the track its just as important as on..maybe even more so. Finally I would like to say how impressed I was with the attitudes,as we walked around all weekend trying to get to know you all and when I left I said man those are the greatest guys you could ever want to have around you..off and on the track. After the final race when everyone came into the impound I saw one of the most impressive moments I have ever seen in racing..Aaron Bambach came up to me right out of his car and said "I just had one of the best weekends of my life..now remember Aaron was on the pole and with the screwed up start he checked up thinking it was a restart and half of the field blew past him,and there went his podium finish up in smoke on the first lap,he still finished 9th but how would you feel if that happened to you..what a great sport you are Aaron I learned a lot from you and Robin this past weekend! Adam Ginsberg also put on quite the show coming up from the back and finishing 6th. By the way Glenn you looked very surprised that you kicked some major ass..give yourself some credit you did awesome! The only thing that went wrong was the start, but I guess if it was only one thing , that is better than two. So my take on the whole thing was very positive, and if any of you need anything from me you know I'm here for you anytime. Thanks to you all who attended, Tony Guaglione CMC National Director PS I'm driving on the track next year..not next to it!! Quote
Keith Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Keith.....come play with us Oct 14th and 15th at Summit Point....you will have an absolute blast. Kent Kent and Colin - I'd love to but I will be in Cancun on a badly needed get away weekend with my wife. After Sunday's race, I was quoted as saying it was the most fun I had ever had with my clothes on. Well, this trip will provide some balance in my life. Glenn - you were correct. We were debating ride height versus center of gravity for the better part of a year. I am in the process of buying new wheels. I think you were correct on this one. Quote
