Friends of Riverside Motorsports Park:

Riverside Motorsports Park LLC is extremely pleased to announce that Merced County has confirmed the public workshop and formal public hearing dates for the Riverside Motorsports Park project – leading to the vote of the Merced County Board of Supervisors regarding the development of Riverside Motorsports Park in Merced County.

As a supporter of the RMP project who has asked to be on our e-mail and general mailing list, we want to make sure you are aware of the dates of these all-important meetings, and we would like to ask you to attend and participate in as many of the meetings and hearings as you possibly can – especially the final hearing by the Merced County Supervisors. Your presence will help provide tangible, solid proof of the overwhelming support that the Riverside Motorsports Park project has in Merced County and throughout the region.

Please save the following dates:

4 October - 24 October - 25 October - 14 November

If you can attend only one meeting, please give priority to the Merced County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, 14 November 2006. Please help us send a clear message to the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, and the media that Riverside Motorsports Park has significant local and regional support.

Additional notes about the meeting and hearing process:

1. Project Workshop on October 4 – While this is not a typical meeting in the course of approving a development project, the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission have requested that the Riverside Motorsports Park project team provide a project overview in a Workshop, in which they can ask questions, understand issues and receive clarifications.

2. Board of Supervisors hearing on October 24– This critical hearing is required for the Board to determine which aviation standards should apply to the project. The existing Merced County Airport Land Use Plan has not been updated to reflect current CalTrans Division of Aeronautics requirements. The Board will consider whether the County will apply current CalTrans aviation requirements to the project, in lieu of the outdated Merced County Airport Land Use Plan.
