I'll tell ya what......

I'll tell ya what makes this series FUN out west .It's the NASA officials and local directors that firmly but fairly govern AND race with us...

perfect example ...

finale weekend of our west coast series Buttonwillow,CA

light rain sat (first since last may.6 mths ago ) made things quite slippery for all groups...well it was a bump, skid and spin fest....

drivers meeting, before sun race ( dry track now )

Ryan Flaherty let EVERYONE have it with both barrels.. as did Tony G. ..

any reckless driving is a black flag.. drop two wheels off track then take it down a notch... we were reminded that this is a gentleman ( women) sport

totaly unaceptible to damage another car cause of out of control driving

Ryan, in his wisdom to drive his point home , inverted all race groups for the last race ... the point is sometimes WE ALL need a attitude adjustment ... we all are there to have good spirited competion , but atlas we all need to load up an undamaged race car to compete next time

I'm not sure, but it seems to me if you're trying to make it more sane on the race track the last thing you would want to do is invert the field. When you put the fast drivers in back you know they are going to make it tough at the first turn. That's how you end up with three and four wide going into the first turn and things happen. Inverting two races every weekend is not fair to the guys who worked hard to get their cars up front in qualifying. I like changing it up for one out of three, but two out of three races inverted is not good. Why would I try hard? Why not just hang out in back and work the system for the inverted races? Why try to go faster if you know you're going to end up in back anyway. The other thing about inverted races that invert the whole field that bothers me is, if you are a mid packer most of the time, like me, the inverts never help you or give you chance because you stay pretty much in the mid pack the whole weekend. Not fair.I think it should be one inverted race per weekend, period. What do the rest of you think?

completely agree with Pat..

if we are racing for points (and that is all we have) the races have to be consistent..

one invert a weeked only is fair...

I agree that inverting may promote some additional chaos at the start of a race, and basing it on qualifying may encourage sand bagging. To me it only makes sense to invert starting grids based on the finishing order of a previous race. If you want to sandbag by purposely finishing last in a race so you can start at the front of the next race, have at it.

remember guys, the Toyo Bucks are only paid for race 1 and 3 here in TX. thats only races that are grid by qual time.

as for inverting. well think of those guys who are here for fun and are not after blood each weekend. this is "for fun" racing isnt it? lets let them have some fun. i have been a top 3 car for the last 2 years here in TX. i still think inverts are a good way to ensure everyone gets a chance to have a good finish.... to have fun. inverts also help promote better racing by keeping the pack tight. i think our top 5-7 races have all been the final race on sunday (inverted). this also helps develop a more well rounded racer.one who can deal w/ a faster car in his mirrors. this teachs you to drive your race and not your mirrors.

here in our region, when you win a championship you earned it, and everyone here knows it. i like inverts.

I do like inverted races, don't get me wrong. You Texas guys have more races I guess. Here out West we have a Toyo bucks race on Saturday set by qualifying times. The inverted race on Sunday morning based on that finishing order, and Toyo bucks race the last race on Sunday. Lately we have had the last race on Sunday being randomly inverted. If we had four races per weekend I wouldn't be against two inverted races if we could change it up and maybe invert six then seven then eight and so on. When it's for the toyo bucks and points championship it should be straight up that's all I'm saying.

I agree with what you are saying about the inverts Pat. It is great to have a non-Toyo bucks race inverted once a weekend; otherwise, straight up for the Toyo bucks.

Brady, yes, I've raced with Ryan - at the nationals.

But, getting back to Carson's post, Ryan said "No more contact, or you will be black flagged and sent home". THEN he said "To make this even more of a point, we're inverting."

So the added bunching up was used as a "bigger stick" in regards to the contact/offs issues. Basically he said NASA will be watching you, AND we're going to make it tougher for you.

My thoughts anyway...
