Richard Pryor1548534703
For sure Terry McCarthy will be in the #23 FMG Vacuum Pumps Camaro at Fontana and for the entire season...and Dave Schotz is going to convert one of his two LS1 Firebirds to CMC2 specs and run most of the series (though knowing Dave, it'll be the whole series...and remember this is the guy that sat on the pole in T2 at the 2005 SCCA Runoffs at MidOhio and was second in qualifying (.002 slower than pole) for the 2006 Runoffs...so he'll be quick..and at the MidOhio NASA Championships..watch out)...Dean and Aaron Bailey have tested the waters and hopefully will continue...and JR Luster is going to run a converted T2 Camaro...who else is out there that is going to run CMC2 next year?...I'll be running an "old" 3rd gen carb car in most events but might share JR's ride for Laguna...just to set a lap record in both classes the same weekend...modest goals as always...SCCA has screwed F bodies in T2 again so there should be a mass exodus from the class to NASA...should be interesting...and are there any Mustangs on the horizon?..rP
King Matt1548534716
I was talking to a friend last night who is the crew chief for the 2006 NE Div. T2 champion Firebird trying to recruit him over to CMC-2 and we were going over the rules and making a few comparisons. They are currently less than 1.5 seconds off the American Iron track record at Beaver Run. That's at 3600 pounds and granted it's on Goodyears not Toyos, but he expects they will be at an equal or better power-to-weight ratio if they detune to the CMC-2 rules and will have better spring/bar/shock options than they have in T2, not to mention how much less work the brakes will have to do at 3200 pounds. The older Mustangs are so far off in T2 that they have a huge mountain to climb even under the CMC-2 rules. If there are any coming, I predict a slaughter. Maybe the 05s will have a chance. Gene Borton
We've got an S197 Mustang we're planning to run in CMC2....just a matter if there's enough time to get it done this winter.
Glenn
did i read the rules right in that CMC-2 is only open to 94 and up Mustangs and 93 and up F-bodies? no 3rd gens and no fox cars, right?

Pat Stone1548534713
Did I read that right? Richard Pryor is going to race a car in CMC, for real? Come on Richard, is this a missprint? You're only going after two track records? The track is your oyster. We can't wait for you to come out and set the pace for us. If you're in a third gen I guess you'll be with us slow guys in plain old CMC . Should be fun. I'll try to take it easy on you now that I've switched to the faster Mustangs. Richard Pryor1548534703
Yep, it's true, Pat...I'm joining the graybeard contingent in CMC for 2007...since Terry McCarthy is goingto run the whole series in CMC2 I figured that as long as I was going to be at most of the races I might as well strap into a car...and the lure of a race at Laguna is hard to resist...hey, you might have a new Mustang but an old 1982 Camaro can still whip Ford's finest with no problem...while we might be down a horsepower or two with the carbed V8 I think the superior handling (and flawless driving) is going to make this car a winner it's first weekend out...see you at the track..rp
bsim
What do you mean Pat? RP goes to every race! As long as it's: Not rainingBetween 65 and 72 degreesNot windyAnd providing the track is within 1/4 mile of an area centered at Laguna Seca.
