West Coast Radio Requirement

Ok, so I'm making a decision here and I know you back me on this one.

I am mandating for CMC West Coast, (other regions can follow through your regional coodinator/director) the requirement of having at the very least a "listen only radio" in your car so you can listen to the CMC broadcast on the grid and during each race session.

We have over 16 drivers that bought into this last year and I have never heard one negative comment yet, so its my decision to make these a must have.

Reasons are simple:

1) I want you to be infomed at all times.. how many times have you sat on grid wondering what is going on..how we were doing the start because you forgot what I said in the meeting, and wouldn't it be nice to know that there is a waving yellow flag at turn 3, or how about a black flag or a red flag..we can tell you what is going on right now.

Cost is only $145 with the headset for the AL-300R radio from Argent lab race radios which is an outstanding value, and as usual you get them from me as I always have a nice supply of them.

Robert from Argent labs is backing us and the equipment 100%.

So if you have one you are ready to go,if not see me at the next event.

go to www.argentlab.com for the info, but the pricing is much better to us, so get a hold of me for more pricing discounts at : [email protected]

A/I and FFR will most likely follow us in this since we are all together in the same run group.

Thanks,

Tony Guaglione

CMC National Director.

Good idea, but we are still in the tin can and string stage here in the East as far as communication goes. I know that a couple of the drivers expressed interest in the radio's, but as far as making them mandatory, we will take a hard look at it for next year after the group provides feedback about it during this coming year. Our favorite saying in the East is.....

"Can you hear me now."

Thanks Tony for getting such a good price on them.

So we can pickup hamburger orders on one, and taco orders on the other?

In heraldry, argent is the tincture of silver, and belongs to the class of light tinctures, called "metals". It is very frequently depicted as white and usually considered interchangeable with it. In engravings and line drawings, regions to be tinctured argent are either left blank, or may be indicated with the abbreviation ar. in them.

The name derives from Latin argentum, which derives from the greek 'Αργυρος, translated as silver or white metal. The word argent had the same meaning in Old French blazon, from which it passed into the English language.

In some historical depictions of coats of arms, a kind of silver leaf was applied to those parts of the device that were argent. Over time, the silver content of these depictions has tarnished and darkened. As a result, it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish regions that were intended as argent from those that were sable. The result is a false impression that the rule of tincture has been violated in cases where the argent was applied next to a dark colour, and where it now appears to be sable next to a dark colour from tarnishing.

Ah good! Now, the only question that remains is.............what is a Mantie? I have all kinds of ideas about what those could be, most of them derived from Seinfeld!

aahhhh, the dreaded award to an AI car who finishes behind a CMC car. this at one time (before my time) was accually handed out each event weekend here in TX. i have seen pics of this award flapping in the breeze from the battery posts on the rear of a Mustang. its all in good fun, but i do understand why it was stopped.

Ok

Manty or manties can mean:

Mandu (dumpling) - Mandu, manty, or mantı (Turkish) refers to dumplings in Korean, Turkish, Persian, and Pashtoon cuisines.

something pertaining to the Star Kingdom of Manticore.

manties - panties for men

Geeze, you guys can really take a thread to Egypt...

Anyway, good call Kevin, the name Argent came from the color. It's funny, the first batch of prototypes showed up with silver/blue cases that looked like a G.I. Joe toy. Worked wonderfully, just ugly. It was a running joke around the shop and then silver turned into Argent and the rest is history.

Someone asked for the logo:

Brad is correct, if using a RaceCiever, scanner, or other programmable radio, the frequencies are 1) 464.5625 and 2) 469.5625. We broadcast with a CTCSS of 203.5. (also known as channel gaurd, private line, and many others) Although I have set up 2 channels so that if there is interference at a particular track, I highly recommend setting your equipment up the this tone detection to provide better communications.

Tony will be the point of contact for the West Coast. He will handle sales, warranty exchanges, stickers, blah, blah, blah... BTW: Argent Lab has the best warranty in the industry. "Complete exhange for anything but water damage, no questions asked" I will be the POC for Texas.

We are planning to go to Road Atlanta in March. Ginsberg is trying to make contacts to set them up and do a broadcast for them when we go out there. I will offer a group purchase to get all new regions set up. Argent Lab will also provide equipment to all regions to perform the broadcasts with.

Now that we off the manties subject , any questions?

Thanks Boudy! #37 is well on to getting back on track so I have ordered a listen-only set-upfrom Tony. Can this be upgraded to a two-way system? If so, what is involved and how should I go about it when I am ready.

Julie, my listen only set-ups include a 2-way radio with listen only earpiece. The only thing required to transmit from it is a head-set or car-kit and to program it with frequencies. Tony will be provided with a laptop, software, and programming cable soon to take care of these upgrades.

We're looking at this for Texas AI/CMC because of the huge communication benefits it offers pre, during and post race whenever there is an issue which needs your attention (at the very least to be able to remind people on grid whether it's a standing start or a rolling start! ) and keep our racers informed.

Contrary to the West Coast, we will NOT make in-car radios a requirement at the start of the 2007 season (less than a month away).

We encourage all racers in Texas to take advantage of this inexpensive (~$149) communication tool and we'll continue to evaluate the efficiency & effectiveness of the Texas AI/CMC safety broadcast. Once we are sure that all the "infrastructure" support is in place (i.e.- resources, announcer, radio protocols, etc) to consistently provide the service as you have in California....only then will it become a requirement for AI/CMC here.

For Texas...at the earliest, this radio requirement would likely not be until mid-season at Round 4.... at the latest we hope that it could be a requirement for the 2008 Texas AI/CMC season. (Al Fernandez will be a huge asset to have once he gets here to further assist establishing this program for us.)

I just wanted to give you guys/gals a heads up that it's being discussed and that we're working closely with Clifton, our Race Director, Argent Lab Radios and the folks at NASA TX to make it happen.
