GT4Point6
Why do they call the Food City 500 race a 500 when it's 250 miles? 500 laps around a .5 mile course. Don't all race numbers equal the total miles ran not lap totals? Found this rather odd and nothing on the NASCAR site about it's name. jeffburch
Sometimes it's miles. Or laps, or in IRL, kilometers even. Been like this for as long as I can remember. At TMS for the Samsung 500, we had to figger out how many laps on a 1.5 mile track when it's kilometers. They installed a lap counter on top of the scoring towers that counts down laps now. Much easier, especially if you're enjoying libations. jb
AllZWay
Yep... the number is just a number. It could be laps, miles or kilometers( at least IRL anyway).
