Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 OK, Tony, it's time to set up the bets for the Thunderhill race weekend. You've been delusionally insisting in the invinceability of your Mustang, however, just to prove you wrong, I've thrown an old carbed engine (that cuts out over 2800 rpm) from the deep, dark recesses of my garage into a Camaro chassis that has been hit on all four sides and probably wouldn't fit the factory templates even if they were made of silly putty. There isn't a straight panel on the Camaro and it goes down the track sideways like a crab. It has a trick suspension setup with springs from 4 different Pick 'n' Pull cars, none of which have any known spring rate, which doesn't matter anyway as they all sag tremendously but that does give the car a bitchin' ride height, except for the right rear which is 6" taller. It's got a lightweight roll cage cuz we didn't have any DOM tubing but lots of exhaust stock although we had to weld it together every few feet to make the main hoop. The transmission works most of the time except when the shifter comes loose but, hey, all you need at TH is 4 th most of the time. Anyway, with all that, this junkyard dog Camaro is coming hunting at TH looking for Mustang ass. And even given all the problems it's still strong enough to blow the doors off your Mustang. I'm not in much better shape than the Mustang, getting more and more replacement parts and sagging here and there, so I've got a young(er) guy, Dave Schotz, to pilot the Camaro. Yeah, he's not even half as quick as me, but still fast enough to smoke you. But before we make the long trek to Thunderhill we need to make it worthwhile. I saw a great Gaguar you were selling on eBay...when we win I'm not interested in the Mustang, but the Jag (even though technically it's a Ford, too) would be just fine as your side of the bet. You name my side as it really doesn't matter since it will never be in danger of being lost. RP Quote
mcolangelo2005 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hey, Richard, I found a video of your Camaro here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNVkqBMTBJs Quote
Tony G Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Ok your on!!!!! I'll take dinner/Beer on you for every CMC patron that comes to Thunderhill at Round Table Saturday night, and I'm in need of a nice wax job on the winning Mustang that will blow the doors (and all other parts that will come off) in our shootout. So bring $$$$$$$$ and 3 cans of wax, because one coat won't cut it. See you there, and look for the blue oval sticker on my REAR BUMPER...since that is all your going to see.... Tony Quote
Keith Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Hey, Richard, I found a video of your Camaro here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNVkqBMTBJs Looks like the challenge is on with you guys. Ought to be entertaining. I hope someone has some in-cars for this... That video - I saw that happen to the pole sitter at a Honda Challenge race 2 years ago during the parade lap. I still scratch my head when I see that... Quote

Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 (edited) HMMM but why does it taste like chicken?...gee, Tony, that's not a very big bet..you must be pretty...chicken?...let's up the ante to pink slips...of course, I only have around $3500 in the Camaro, but, hey, that's all any salvage yard will give you for a brand new Mustang anyway...the wax job is a good idea but it would probably peel off the pretty white Earl Scheib paint job and wrinkle the body panels if you rub too hard...somehow the tub got dropped in a tub of dipping acid and we were barely able to pull it out before it dissolved to nothing..but we welded up the seams and it seems to hold together just fine...and we did install 2" steel beam extensions to the front bumper for the reverse grid start on Sunday morning...the only problem we're having is finding one of those trick computer switches like some CMC competitors are using to run with 50 extra horsepower on the track and flip the switch to trick the computer back down to 220 rwhp or so...it's pretty easy to do and pretty obvious who is doing it...but we don't have to worry about computers in the Camaro as it's an old school carb engine...out of an old school bus..it should be an interesting weekend...RP Edited March 29, 2007 by Guest Quote
