jrengstorff Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I have a 3rd gen CMC 92 firebird with a 5 liter TPI motor. It came with straight exhaust, and was a bit loud. I installed a single chamber Delta muffler, and now it backfires when off-throttle. Is there anything I can do to alleviate the backfiring? I'm afraid its going to blow the muffler off, or worse. As is, it sounds like a 12 gauge going off in every corner. Thanks for any insight out there. Jim Quote
Carson Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Hey Jim, must be a exhaust leak or maybe the muffler was installed backward ?? Quote
jeffburch Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Maybe a leaking/stuck injector, or a bad/misadjusted throttle position sensor. jb Quote
