xjedix
I need to get some cheap tires for the street and need some advice. I would like to keep it under $100 a tire. Has anyone used either of these?? I have never heard of Sumitomo but they are nice and cheap and have a 160 treadwear rating. I would love to go get some Toyo RA-1's but the budget just wont allow it at the moment. Any thoughts on these??? Looking for 255/50R16 tires. Sumitomo HTRZ $66.60 each Thanks, -Derek Edited April 19, 2007 by Guest
FBody383
I have a set of the Sumitomo's on the M3 and have been very happy with them. They have a stack of road miles and 1 1/2 DEs. The first track weekend was in the pouring rain and they were fine under heavy braking at 95-100. In the dry they are what they are, cheap. I find them predictable and decent wearing. I would gladly buy another set for the price of 2 Yoko AVS. FWIW
xjedix
Thanks for the input. After some research I think I am going to look into the Sumitomo tires. I have read that Sumitomo now owns Dunlop?? I really like the price and have heard they are decent for the track. Please let me know if any one else has experience with Sumitomo tires. Thanks again, -Derek
Holster Maker
One of the rags just did a test on these and others, they did REAL well! I remember 4 diff tires and for the price you couldn't beat these. Can't remember the mag, but I get all 4 Mustangs, Grassroots, Car/Driver, Road/Track, Autoweek or could have been the doctor or barbershop? mcmmotorsports1548534724
I really need to get rid of my 18's. I hit a pothole last weekend that put a nice hole in the sidewall of my $197 tire.
