Keith Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Has anyone heard from anyone in the Northeast about CMC? It appears that NASA Northeast is getting started into road racing (previously did HPDE and NASA-X) events and they are coming to BeaveRun this month. It appears that the Northeast Region is about where we were in OH/IN in 2002. Living in Pittsburgh and running OH/IN always means heading west for me. I might be defecting to NE as they get things together. Besides, I sure would like to get back to Watkins Glen in my CMC car. Anyway, it appears that I am going to have to run Performance Touring or Super Touring (where I will be summarily killed) in NE. Has anyone here heard of any CMC activity in the NE? Quote
Keith Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 I'll take the silence as a "no"... Looks like I have a little sales work to do. I really, really look forward to the day that I am in a CMC race group comin' through the esses at Watkins Glen at full tilt, two wide. I'll sniff around the NASA NE leadership during the BeaveRun event and get them thinking about CMC. (Unless someone tells me not to.) Quote
jeffburch Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 KO, Give us a date at the Glen a little in advance and me and Ginsberg are there. jb The Traveling Dingleberries Quote
Keith Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 KO,Give us a date at the Glen a little in advance and me and Ginsberg are there. jb The Traveling Dingleberries They are sanctioning a race at Watkins Glen in October. I plan to go assuming everything is cool with my car at that time. I have a feeling that a few other OH/IN-ers are going to go up as well. Once the date gets closer, I will make a thread. Quote
powerslide91 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Getting to drive the Glen would be incrediable. I practically grew up at the Glen but never had a chance to drive it. I'd go if possible.... Jeff Quote
Keith Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 This was a very happy day a few years back... Quote

Keith Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 I sold it to buy an LS1 Camaro for autocrossing. The LS1 Camaro was the car-to-beat in autox F-Stock class and I was tired of getting whopped on in the IROC. ...hmmm, I sold the LS1 to get the race car and trailer... Pattern? Someday I will own a 3rd gen again. I never got over the sale of the IROC (and I sold a 69 Camaro to buy it!). That IROC is the car that I wish I had never sold. Quote
Keith Posted May 3, 2007 Author Posted May 3, 2007 Probably on cinder blocks behind a double-wide. Hahahaha. Actually, some realtively wealthy guy buy it for his 16-year-old son's birthday gift. Quote
Flash Gordan Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 If anybody does talk to the NASA leadership about running CMC/AI/AIX in the NE, let them know that Thunderbolt Raceway should be opening around this time next year. I would love to run there as it would only be 20 minutes from my house. Go here to see what's happening lately. Quote
King Matt1548534716 Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 I think there is some connection between NASA NE and the EMRA/Northeast Iron group. Their rules are pretty close to AI. Quote

They have just cleared it of all old unexploded bombs and construction is supposed to start in the next couple months. Quote
nutcop312 Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I.R.O.C.= Italian retard out cruising, lol i loved my 3rd gen z28 and am currently working on a 88 'stang for NE Iron, hope for CMC too,but it wont be competetive for AI; I also have a clean, 78 Z28 body would love to make a roadracer, lol, big IROC air dam, lol, but what happened to AI vintage? Jersey's gonna be the new roadrace hotspot with Thunderbolt hopefully coming soon and if Englishtown ever gets their act together with their road course.... Quote

Carroll Shelby himself has been advising the developers. To read it, go here Quote
Keith Posted September 16, 2007 Author Posted September 16, 2007 Thanks for the update. June 2008, huh? There are two Millville, NJ's according to mapquest and the are both 6 hour tows. Acceptable. BTW - Watkins Glen on Oct. 13-14 is not out of the question. Who else is in? Quote

EDIT: I checked mapquest and found the other Millville at the northern end of the state. Wrong Millville. Quote
Renntag1548534718 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I am very excited to see the Thunderbolt project make it to completion. There has been alot of talk about this for a few years. Oct 13/14 is the last event of the season for NASA MA at Summit Point. Keith....come to summit and run CMC. I am also trying to get CMC started in the North East and have not received any definitive feedback. I was told that if I was able to get a few CMC cars to run, we could be classed together. I think the only conflict with NEI is AI. If a CMC car enters an NEI race and beats ANY of the NEI cars.....shame on the faster cars. Flash. Glad to hear you are building a car to run with us. I have a friend in Jersey outside Philly that I need to go visit. I would also like to check out Thunderbolt. Drop me an email sometime. Quote
walkrac Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I have 1986 Mustang GT and Im interested in building it for CMC but since I live near Watkins Glen Im not sure thats the route I should take.Any info or suggestions would be appreciated. Quote
Renntag1548534718 Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I would highly suggest building for CMC. It is a vastly growing series across the country and especially on the east coast. I have been in contact with the NE region regarding CMC and there are a few cars that will come out next year. You could always come down to our region as well. Summit Point is aprox 6 hour tow from the Glenn. You arent prohibitively far from Mid-Ohio either. NASA races at both tracks offer large CMC fields. You can also run in PT if their arent CMC cars at a particular event. Keep in mind that your other option is to build for American Iron and North East Iron. The fields will be just as small in the NE until the series grow more. You might as well save some money and build a CMC car. Feel free to email me if you have questions. I am from NY and have wanted to return to the Glenn to race. Quote
walkrac Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 RENNTAG THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE, SOUNDS LIKE I'LL BE BETTER OFF BUILDING A CMC CAR.SO I'D BETTER GET STARTED IF I PLAN ON RUNNING IN 08.THANKS AGAIN Quote
