Members Al F. Posted May 1, 2007 Members Posted May 1, 2007 (edited) Just happened this last weekend. Lots more details will come from the official race report later, but I wanted to get some news out. TWS is a superspeedway with an infield road course, not unlike Cal Speedway, except the infield road course actually extends beyond the oval track and is a really challenging course...especially run clockwise for the first time ever! (for us anyway) The big story is the unstoppable force of Glenn Landrum and LAW Motorsports making it a clean sweep: 3 starts, 3 wins! This was also the last run in Tx for a while for Jeff Brooks since he's on his way to Sacramento soon. You Ca boys and girls look out for him. Not only is he a first rate builder/driver he carries a Mig welder wherever he goes!! Todd Covini went for a trip as well...up in the air with a not so easy landing. His Ranchero has a lot of damage to the nose, we'll see where it ends up. Last thing to mention is Jeff Wirtz who brought out a brand new, stunning 3rd gen and put it on the pole the first qual session, collected several podiums, and even weighed in within 5# of the limit after a 40 minute race!! Talk about being on target right out of the gate!! Oh, yeah...and I set the track record. Edited May 9, 2007 by Guest Quote
AllZWay Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Al... great job on the record and it was fun racing with you. I hope to have the #28 a little better for Houston. Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Congrats on the track record Al!!!! We miss you out here in California! Quote
bsim Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Was the track record due to a little extra-curricular off roading and skipping a few corners? Are you the newly renamed "Prarie Dog Hunter"? Quote
fastjohn Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Congrats Al on the track record, but you Texas boys better check that motor it did come from California! Quote
cmc38camaro Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Great Job Al, I guess that John Deere has taught you a thing or two about off road control Quote
Members Al F. Posted May 3, 2007 Author Members Posted May 3, 2007 Nice, my own engine builder turns on me!! John, I'll have you know that after sitting in that trailer with a dead battery for five months, I started the car at the dyno shop, warmed it up, and the first pull was 232hp 299tq. That is all your doing, thanks. Brad...Todd appears to be the resident gopher hunter around here. It is Texas, maybe its prairie dogs? Quote
