Hey everyone

i had a blast this weekend

Congrats to James, Brady, and Mike for there wins this weekend

It was to bad for the small field

but Im sure that will be made up at buttonwillow

Yeah, even though my car crapped out, it was still a great time. Whenever we can go to WS and have it be in the 70's is an awesome weekend.

Notice that the winners were 1) Mustang 2) 4th gen 3) 3rd gen - excellent equality!

And thanks again Kyle, for all the grid/pit/other work you did - it's really helpful!

Plum put the Smack Down on the last race..I think this is first win, and if he got past me he was driving like a man, because my car was sideways sliding more than it was straight!!!

Great job mike!!

I got to watch the last race from the wall near T1. And ya just like Brady said, Mike took off like a mad man.

I was chasing Ed, then there was two FFR's, me and two more FFR's. One of the FFRs tried a pass on me at the apex of T9, yes T9, then as we tracked out he decided to use all of the track and put his left rear into my right front. This spun him and put his drivers door to my nose and I pushed him sideways for a split second before he peeled off to my left into the dirt. I'll need a new bumper cover and other bits and pieces I'm sure. I pulled over because the steering felt extremely soft after that while turning right, like I had tire going down. Can't visually see anything wrong but may have a damaged steering rack or busted the strut. He hit me hard enough to bend his rim so he couldn't finish the race either. Ryan reviewed my video tape and found him at fault although it took the other driver a long time to come around to this for some reason.

Back to the parts store.....

You wrecked again Kevin?? You're two for two last times out no?

Congrats on the win Mike. Getting past Brady on a track where you spend 90% of your time sideways can't have been easy. Same for James and Brady, congrats guys.

Kevin! Man, that must have been scary! I think he did well to stay sunny side up after looking at that. I find that in racing you are making all kinds of decisions constantly, if you make one bad one at the wrong time that is all it takes sometimes. Part of what I am learning with racing CMC is how to be a good sport and admit when I am wrong, that is a good thing. Helps ya grow as a racer and a person. You did good stickin' to your guns Kevin!

I have video from Saturday's race from atop the horseshoe, very exciting! I'll be posting that up soon.

Great video. You should have shown him who was "Number One" as he drifted past your front windshield.

Kevin, I'm happy to hear that justice prevailed. This is a great example of why we all should use in car video cameras. The video shows the officials all they need to know to rule on the incident.

I'll put up a video clip of the pass on Brady, Jim and the two FFR cars if it's entertaining. I haven't watched it yet.

I was clean at Cal speedway, so two out of three

I've got a couple more good clips I'll post later. One is Brady testing his traction limits from the turn in of 3 to the exit of 4 and a few others going wide out of 9.

Lo res of two clips put together.

First part is Brady's traction testing thu T3 and T4 and the second part is Ed going a GREAT job in not falling into the drop off just off of T4 and keeping it straight and out of traffic.

That was a great week end of racing. Since that was my first time on that track, I would have to say turn 9 is deffinately a pucker factor of 10+. I have some great footage of Mike Plum passing me at 125+ and then weaving thru the factory five cars and other cmc'ers to take the lead and the win. Brady is a maniac. Even with his car crippled he's out there giving 100%. You got my vote buddy, for most courageous or crazy I'm not sure which until I watch all the film. Everyone did a good job of driving. Some of us were a little over our heads and going off the track too much, but it is a very fast track and we all want to win so mistakes will happen. We had two more missing hood pin incidents that coiuld have ended very badly. I would highly recommend everyone look into the pins that have the lock pin captured right with the hood so you can't lose them, they stay right there on your hood so you never have to look for them. Sorry that Factory Fiver guy got into Kevin, that could have been very ugly, But KM did the right thing and let the guy recover instead of running over the fool. Turn nine didn't seem to be a good place to test the inside line for passing. I saw a couple of close calls there. Also have great footage of Derrick's four wheel off- on at 100+, NICE. I just wanted to thank everyone for not denting Dave's car while I was driving it. Had a great time. See you a BW.

Nice videos Kevin,

Comments:

The FFR car is 100% at fault..what the hell was that all about?

I don't see anything that Brady's car is doing that is not normal ..for him

Nice job on waiting to pass the possible cars coming back on track...where did you learn that from

Here's me, REALLY wanting to get past Kevin, right before my car acted like it had a 302 in it.

At the very least, this ugly Sunday mechanical performance was offset by my first CMC podium finish on Saturday!

I watched ya do it, nice driving buddy!!! Congrats!!!! Let me know if it was your 02 sensor or dreaded opti!

arg Brad, that video is just agonizing!! The whole time you're thinking "come on, get him!" then suddenly "oh no! now what? Its @#@$!@# broken??!!" hahaha

Lots of cool videos, thanks for posting them guys. Sorry about the damage Kev, hopefully you can get it fixed and pretty again. Nice job holding Brad off under braking lap after lap too!

If you would have had a 302, you may have gotten around easier.

Congrats on the podium finish, you were running great until the opti-crap kicked in.

No car, but we were busy:

Enjoy Saturday's race! Note the drifting sequence by James, he gets 10 out of 10 points for style! The only time he did not do that was when traffic was in his way! Yes, that is a Z06 behind Pat Stone.

Video as soon as Pete's computer is fixed.

FWIW - You're right, it ended up being the opti.

VERY strange symptoms, but it would stumble "every once in a while", and never on the dyno. Saturday at WS, the "miss" became more apparent, and caused me to drop from 2nd to 3rd on the last lap. We found a disconeccted vacuum hose (thanks Nick), and thought that was it. Sunday AM, I made it through almost all of the Q session/race before it started not wanting to run. Similar to the day before, it sucked after it got warmer.

Scanned the PCM, which said the MAF was goofy, so replaced that prior to the Sunday Race. Didn't make it 3 laps, and the car coasted off track, and had to be pushed on the trailer.

Fast forward to this weekend, I swapped in a GM opti. Hmmm, should opti's rattle? Opened it up to find that the rotor screws decided they didn't want the job anymore, and were lying at the bottom of the cap. And yes, they still have the loc-tite on them. Maybe JB Weld next time?

Either way, the car fired up with the new opti, and I'll be back at BW!

Great videos and pictures...I had a great time at Willow Springs. I am looking forward to BW. I learned alot this weekend. This was my first race since I received my NASA licence. Thanks for everyone's patience...Hey Pat, can you post the video "great footage of Derrick's four wheel off- on at 100+, NICE." I would love to see it.

Thanks, Derek.

Which one? I think I have three different ones. I'm glad you kept that car facing in the right direction. I thought you were going to put dents in Dave's car, but you didn't and everything came out great. That was a pretty good weekend of racing. The other funny video is of Scott going on a mission to find you that missing hood pin on the racing grid. I think somebody's car is missing one now! I tried to signal you to go to the back for the start but it's hard to see once you get all buckled in the car. I think you might have gotten to the front anyway, as fast as your car was. You guys have that carb car running great. I don't have the tecnology to post video to this site but I'll burn you a copy of the highlights and bring it to BW.
