KPlum Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Just wanted to let everybody know that I had a blast this weekend It was great seeing everybody and watching some really close racing A BIG conrats goes out to Ed Hamilton, with a 6th, a 3rd, and a personal best of 2nd place. Way to go Ed I hope to see everyone at Thunderhill since I will not be going to nationals Quote
Tony G Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 (edited) Fantastic weekend everyone!!!! Incredible close racing. CMC2 had 6 cars. The last race was decided by inches between myself and Dave Whitelaw..a drag race to the finish line from turn 11. The Garages were simply awesome, weather was 74 degees and just perfect. Nothing like 20 plus CMC cars 10 A/I cars and 12 FFR cars. Jim Griffith gets his first CMC win at Infineon. Dave Schotz ( T-2 SCCA Run offs champ) turned up with Pryor and what a stand up guy he is, as we all were very impressed..and man he can drive . Mike Plum continues his strong finishes as does Nick Steel,Pat Stone,Dave Morin, Team flashover, and Ed Hamilton. Tons of new interest this weekend,as I can see at least 5-7 more guys joining the fun by years end. Just a really great weekend everyone!! Had a blast!!!! bsim Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 REALLY sorry I mised it, but I guess these are the sacrifices we make to get to go to the nationals. Bit I did see this in the AI section of the NASAForums. Sounds like a great time!! Quote
LarryV Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Kyle, Had a blast this weekend also.Thank you so much for all your help. You make it so much easier coming to grid with someone who knows what's going on.Drivers do appreciate it.Hope your dad let's you drive the car someday.By the way I'll pay if I can get gridded up front. Lady in Nomex Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I had a good time too and think we should rent the garages again! They stayed nice and cool and it was also nice to have the parking secured directly across for CMC also. A big congrats to Ed Hamilton who gets faster each time he goes out! Quote
fastjohn Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 A special thanks to Tony, Mike and Kyle. You three really make CMC what it is truly FUN! It was very nice to see everyone again, and I think that the more CMC, AI, and FFR are together the more we become as one big happy racing family. Thanks Tony for the garages and your hard work, and Carson for suggesting our own pit area to Jerry! Hope to see you all at TH and good luck at the Nationals! Quote
birel21y Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I had a great time too, (even though Our Car caught on fire) and im still exited to see the pictures.... but other than that me and my brother got it all back together.. and had a great sunday race for the both of us. Great Racing everyone! P.s. if anyone does have any pictures Give me an Email! [email protected] Thanks! , Alex. Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I was right at the entrance to the pits shooting photos of the CMC cars coming through t11 and got the whole thing with Nick Steel's magic camera...I must have shot at least 30 photos with the car on fire, you bailing out with smoke shrouding you and the car, more fire, the marshal's extinguishing the blaze..etc...big flames..glad you and the car were OK...Nick will be posting the pics...Richard "Jimmy Olsen" Pryor Quote
Mike D1548534719 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 It was nice to see everybody again, I enjoyed watching you guys race . I hope to have my car ready by thunderhill. Also Kyle Plum you did not even need my help griding the cars for the race you seem to know all the car and cone numbers by heart, I tried to line some cars up but you were totaly on top of it Great job. GT4Point6 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I had a blast and the field ran great with great starts and exciting battles. Thanks to the Plum Crazy crew for all the help. The pics Nick has of the garage packed full of cars is great. I'm sure he'll share them when he gets a chance to download them. Quote
GT4Point6 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 One other thing, we had a very intersting conversation with Carson Saturday that involved the following: Carson's "Beef" Kelly LeBrock 's "pasture" A hole A pole Some grazing A wedding and 10 kids No mention of a shotgun though...... Quote
Carson Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Hey Kevin, that's cowboy lingo, back me up Texas, just like torque, bore, fuel injection, and TOYOs are racers lingo GREAT weekend, thanks to the whole crew gits better and better Quote
Pat Stone1548534713 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 What a great weekend. Just like everyone in the garage said, that was awesome. Thanks Tony, and count us in everytime for that set up. Thanks to Don, Amanda, and Addison Lee for the use of your jack and battery charger and the great wine Saturday night. It was fun hearing all the old Cobra tales from a true Ford man. Thanks also to Derek for his battery charger too. We had a gremlin in the alternator that I couldn't resolve, and of course the battery charger somehow didn't get in the trailer, but when you race with these guys they do anything to help so everyone can get on the track and have some fun. Like Carson said, it gets better all the time in CMC. Thanks also too Tony and the Plum gang for all the help with the grid, race control and the ice water in tech. It was great to see the whole group come out in force.Like Jeff Burch said, it was like the West Coast Nationals because there isn't a better group of drivers anywhere in the West, and we love racing with you guys. Good luck to all the people going out to the Nationals. Maybe NASA can switch coasts for one of these National events and have it at Infineon. Wouldn't that be cool. See you next race. Team Stone/Morin Quote
C4RACER Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Thanks for the warm welcome everybody - I am really looking forward to racing with you soon. I can really tell this is a great group to run with and I am very glad that Nick finally talked me into giving it a go after sitting on the sidelines and thinking about it for many years. In fact, I first thought about it the year CMC was spawned - it was back in 1995 or 1996 and I ran an "exhibition" race with the CMC group in my street car - a 1989 IROC, at the time it was a F-Stock autox car. That was up at Thunderhill on the old smaller track. I can still remember going through T2 3 cars wide with no more than a foot separating the cars and I was in my pristine street car but still having a wicked good time. Well - that hooked me on track events and I've been doing it ever since in a variety of cars, and always with an eye towards maybe racing in CMC someday. Well - that someday is finally here, or will be soon anyway. See y'all up at Thill. Scott #82 Camaro Quote
GT4Point6 Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 Here is how we did it NorCal style a week after the NASCAR guys laid some good rubber down for us. Low res clips put together, 7mb. Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Enough to buy new sway bar end links! We're all fixed and ready to go with new Toyos guaranteed not to pop a bead. Dave Schotz loved the CMC group and racing and will be running full time next year in a Camaro...Mustang...Camaro...Mustang...well, let's just call it a Camstang or Mustmaro...whatever...we'll be there to have fun...RP Quote

gold chains and oakleys Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 When did the Griffith's get a CMC 2 Car...Is it the new body 05 they have?? Quote
rcpilot92 Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 When did the Griffith's get a CMC 2 Car...Is it the new body 05 they have?? No Sr. was running Jr.s car with a different motor I believe... Quote
gold chains and oakleys Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 James..what motor did you put in your car? Quote
Tony G Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Same motor, same car,we had it in impound the entire weekend, still saw the same marks from Thunderhill. Both James car and Dave Whitelaws car had their cars dyno'd at Sea Level and guess what we were right, the dfference was about 20HP,so like my car with no restrictor that puts us all in CMC2 with 245 to 260HP. I have stayed quite but did anyone notice how close we are all running now that I came down hard on some out of control things that are now fixed?? I think CMC is right back to where it was and it is my job to keep it that way and you can bet your ass I will. Tony Guaglione Quote
jeffburch Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Thx for the update TG! Any speculation on how far back this was going on? Thanks! jb Quote
