j dawes Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 just out of curiosity, why are these not allowed in general? i don't really care either way, but every larry joe and bernard [eh?] on the street can bolt these on and it doesn't really take anything away from the 'authenticity' of the makes. in fact it seems this sort of thing could be one of the FEW 'easier' ways to get a couple extra hps for folks down on power and doesn't seem likely to make anything 'unfair' if a few manufacturer's items are specified [sorta like the spec motor options] for the different makes...plus they make the v8s sound even burblier [is that a word? is now i guess]. this is all coming out in streaming format, so take it for what it's worth Quote
K Shaw Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 Well. Mustang headers for a 5.0 fox mustang can be bought for around 150 bones. Double that price for the third gen F bods. My first thought would be to keep the cost down. kyle Quote
j dawes Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 hm...i guess i've seen so many 'give away' stock headers for the 5.0 when i've looked around, or for around 30 bux plus shipping, that i didn't think of that. the savvy buyer can score headers all day long on just about any mustang 'enthusiast forum' for relatively cheap, ie: well under $200 used. long tube, shorty, ceramic coated, chrome, painted, whatever, you can find it! maybe my inexperience with f-body headers shoots me down on this one... Tony G Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Its to keep the costs down and the list would go on from there, but mainly to keep cost of stuff down, plus we don't need them to make HP which they sometimes don't do anyway. Thanks, Tony Guaglione Quote
tacovini Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 The factory 5.0 headers are the best for torque. I had FMS headers on my stock 302 before CMC and I was amazed at the gain in torque when I went back to stock. Quote

The SN95 headers seem quite restricted at the "connection" point, but I haven't looked at Fox headers. thanks, chris Quote
Tony G Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Heres a trick. The sn95 headers are WAY better than the fox ones just to let you pushrod guys know. Pushrods..what are those?? Tony Guaglione Quote

Members Al F. Posted December 13, 2007 Members Posted December 13, 2007 Objects in rearview mirror are probably Tony OUCH!! I still have a t-shirt that says Objects in rearview mirror are farther away than they appear, with a picture of Tony's mustang below it. Quote
