GT4Point6 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 In CMC-2, Jim, myself and Brad finished within a few car links of each other and 2.5 seconds from 1st to 3rd after the fourty minute race. Good close, very even power, clean fun racing. Our fastest laps were Brad 142.7/ Jim 142.8 /Kevin 142.9. I had the pole after winning both the qual races and the lead for the first few laps but then Jim took advantage of me missing my braking point at turn three and took the inside. Nothing changed after that as far as position. A FFR got on my inside at T2 and spun himself and almost took out Brad. We pretty much had our own race without a whole lot of CMC traffic except the back markers. Great time and I'm sure there will be a lot more writeups. I'll write up a trip report when I get back. The most fun you can have with your clothes on (edited to update time) Quote
cmc35 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Al, Thanks for the finishing info. Is anyone able to get the Group A Championship Race results from the mylaps/liveresult page? I can get every other group, but not this one. -chris Quote

Hi Chris!! Everyone knows my stance on the whole thing by now, but I will sit back and see if the chatter from those that attended Mid-O really turns into something bigger and better for the Fairmonts. yep, its a GM's fault when the top fords DQ themselves for rules infractions. its also GM's fault for the fords putting themselves in the gravel traps frequently. i'm pretty sure the top 4 guys spent zero time in the sand watching others race. its also GM's fault for contact issues that resulted in them getting repositioned. but you know all this because you were there and saw all the infractions that contributed to the Sunday result. oh wait, you were not there. so you you speak of something you really know nothing about. Poe's car came from the back and passed me w/ no problems. but he overdrove the car and took it off w/ one lap to go earlier in the week. evey ford i raced door to door w/ this past weekend was evenly matched to me. i gained nothing on them down the back straight even while drafting. i gained nothing under braking. each one i passed or battled w/ came out on the loosing end due to poor line or too much speed while side by side. as more and more time goes by, less and less people will be talking about you and all the drama you seem to continually cause. eventually you will be seldome spoken about, dispite your pathetic and continued attemps of getting attention here in an effort to replace the lack of attention you used to when you were racing, you will eventually go away and the series will be better off for it. you feel so strongly that the rules are biased that you quit and sold your car. thats fine, your entitled to your opinion. what i think your not entitled to is to be allowed to contiually post here w/ you bitter dribble. you dont want to play in the CMC sand box, so why stay here and piss on it when there are so many others who do? this is alot like a child who would rather break a toy that let a sibling play w/ it. "if i cant be happy, then no one will." at this point Eric, your a stalker. Quote
supermac Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 We just got home, and what a trip. It was really a lot of fun hanging out with all of the people you have just talked to and read about on these boards. I want to thank Todd for busting his butt all week to make sure we all had a fair, safe and great weekend of racing. Also thanks to Glenn and Mitch without all of there awesome and right on the money advice there is no way I would have done as well. Thanks Guys You Are The Best! Thanks to all the guys I raced with, it was by far the closest, hardest and funnest racing I have ever done. And fianally Jeff Burch is the baddest man alive in a CMC car! I'm not worthy, I'm scum. Congrats bud you deserved it! Cody Quote
Tony G Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Congratulations to all who attended and the top guys who ran their asses off all weekend. Nice job Jeff Burch on the win !! As far as the Camaro thing Vs the Mustang thing...well someone here just doesn't know much about CMC if you say that its not even, as I have never seen two more evenly matched cars on the same track at the same time. I'm proud of all of you that went, so thanks to you all and a big thanks to Todd Covini for putting in all the time and effort. King Matt1548534716 Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 There will be plenty of time this winter to discuss platform parity, but this thread isn't the place. Let's just be happy that we enjoyed a well run National Championship with some great racing all the way through the field. Congrats to Jeff Burch for a great, consistent run all weekend. Thanks also to Todd for a great job as race director. I have my own thoughts on the GM vs. Ford issue, but I'll save them for later. Quote

bsim Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 A FFR got on my inside at T2 and spun himself and almost took out Brad....which also happened to be one of the three times I had a chance to try a pass. Oh well. I think when the sorted LS1s make it into 2 they will be hard to beat. But as for this year, we (all of 2) had a great championship race. This was midway through the race, the three of us are kinda close (behind Todd): And this is us taking the checkers after 40 minutes, still bunched up!: I know the CMC battle was close as well. Jeff did a 1:40.71x in the championship race (in my old car too) - that's flying. Super clean and a lot of fun - I think everyone drove on the trailers Sunday. I had to buy two rear tires, add gas, and screw with tire temps. Oh, and the barley sodas were pretty yummy too. Is it 2008 yet? Quote
Waco Racer Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I can see why CMC2 was bunched up. The Musturd was just too scary to try to get around. We don't call him "pass in the grass" for nothing! Quote
CMC#11 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Congratulations to everyone that raced!! There was awesome racing throughout the field and everyone definitely put on a great show for the crowd. The racing was so fast even body parts were flying off. Quote
stevepoe Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Congrats to Jeff, Cody and Glenn. One thing for sure is you guys are fast.It was great to put a face with a name finally . I think If I could have started toward the front I could have ran up toward the front.Glenn and I getting together saturday and me spinning with one lap to go killed my 4th 5th place finish all the way back to 13th. Satrting 11th for sunday really killed me in getting to the front. I'm happy with 7th considering it's my 1st year and the company I was in. I'll be back next year with hopefully something a little faster and a little more talent. Quote

supermac Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Hey uhh.. Todd, I mean Adam, weren't you supposed let those cars with 2's on them go by? Quote
Adam Ginsberg Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Hey uhh.. Todd, I mean Adam, weren't you supposed let those cars with 2's on them go by? Trust me - I tried, as I knew ALL of the cars and drivers racing in CMC2 and didn't want to foul up their race. Our times were very, very close ( within tenths ). JG Sr was close several times, and I gave him several point by's, but he never sealed the deal. There were places I was faster than him, and there were places he was faster than I ( same with Kevin Margetta ). Since I was in the throes of chasing down Corey, I wasn't about to ruin my race. Fortunately, he didn't press the issue by making a poor decision ( thank you, JG Sr ! ), and eventually got around me, as did Kevin. Quote
supermac Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 That Todd Ginsberg fellow sure is a good dude! Quote
jeffburch Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 Thank you everyone! I had a friggin blast runnin with all you guys. We meet so many great people from all over the country. You are all the greatest bunch of folks. I was a top 5 car at best the 1st 3 days. I threw a completely different setup at it Sat. nite. Along with a hellava start the lap time improvement showed it was better. Thanks Cody for pushing me down the straights. Thanks Glenn for giving me the inside of T1 and a better view of the lights. Oh, and also thanks for the use of your trailer. Thank you Robert Boudreaux and Argent Lab for your continued support. Carbotech brakes are the sh!t! Thanks also to Sheriff Todd Covini for everything he did for the competitors this past week. He worked alot of long hours. jb ps I won't be attending next year. http://www.texicanracing.com/nasatx/JeffBurch/wall-o-glass.mpg http://www.texicanracing.com/nasatx/JeffBurch/07-Nats_start.mpg Quote

Not that I'll be attending in 2008 as a competitor, but less ( meaning: NO ) "bump-drafting" would be appreciated as discussed in the drivers meetings. Quote
Glenn Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 anyone talked w? Nick Steel? hes been awfully quiet. Quote
