Trying to evalulate the legality of a car

Guys,

There is a 3rd gen Camaro around that might make an interesting CMC car. In looking at the particulars, it appears that it is close to being CMC-legal. Particulars are:

AS car built to SCCA specs in 1993 and updated thru 2004

305 engine modified to AS requirements (don't know what these are currently)

9-inch Ford (legal)

T-5 (legal)

MSD (illegal)

Double adjustable Konis (legal)

Fiberglass hood (legal)

Oil cooler and Accusump (legal)

Baer 12 inch brakes (illegal?)

Adjustable rear sway bar (illegal)

Adjustable camber plates (illegal?)

Ground Control suspension package (legal front, illegal rear)

Ceramic coated Hedman headers (illegal)

Subframe connectors (legal)

Weight jackers (illegal)

Holley 650 carb (legal)

Anyone want to chime in on my take on this car? Just curious at this point.

Thanks.

Other than the obvious things, the brakes could be legal if they are only the Baer version of the C4 caliper, which is legal IIRC. Current A Sedan engine specs require a solid flat-tappet cam, which is not legal, plus the crank and rods could be non-stock parts not legal for CMC. The carb is the same part we spec (s/b a 600-cfm 4776), but the intake is different. Camber plates are legal. If the weight jackers and sway bars can be removed and replaced with stock parts, it might be a reasonably easy conversion. What about the rollcage? If it has shock tower braces through the firewall, that's an issue that needs to be fixed.

Thanks, Matt. I have not seen the car yet and my description is based on what I have been told. The A-Sedan-compliant engine is my biggest question at this point. I know that AS is alot more liberal with changes than CMC. Cage? I'd be surprised if a reasonably recent SCCA cage wouldn't pass tech but ya never know, do you...

Any other input, guys and gals?

There are a couple of things to look for in the cage. First, SCCA does not require 360-degree welds (I think the requirement is 270), which has been a huge issue for some people in NASA, so check for that because it can be a major PITA to fix if the welds are not accessible. Also, I would expect any well-built recent A Sedan cage to have forward braces running through the firewall to the strut towers, which is legal in A Sedan, but not in CMC and you will have to cut them out or plate them on both side of the firewall. What does this car have for rear suspension? Many GM A Sedans run a custom three-link.
