nasa-rm Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Saturday: 1st - Chris McComb 2nd - Mike Kapp 3rd - Kyle Shaw McComb and Kapp were glued together for a good portion of the race swapping spots till Kapp made a mistake in T9 leaving him behind in a cloud of dust. Sunday: 1st - Chris McComb 2nd - Mike Kapp 3rd - Kyle Shaw 4th - Dave Fessenden 5th - Ken Rockwell (new rookie) 6th - Dave Thede (new rookie) It started snowing at the 1 minue signal on grid. CMC'ers did a fantastic job dealing with coming across the slippery drag strip burnout box (think old Sears Point )!!! Dave "Fez" Fessenden had the save of the weekend showing off his sideways skills down the front straight. We are pushing 10 CMC cars for the May event. Quote
K Shaw Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Fun times indeed. I like that racin in the snow/rain. It gives my under powered crapper a fighting chance. That was my first wet race and all I can say is that I had a huge grin on my face the whole time. kyle Quote
BADVENM Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I too had a great time at my first CMC event in a car (did Pueblo in a 700 rwhp SRT-10 Ram last year). The rain/snow mix was great! I finished last of the running CMC cars but had a great time in doing so! Quote
bsim Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Awesome! I love wet races. Much more rewarding to the smooth drivers. Cool to see Mr. Kapp back in the CMC family... Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Way to go Rocky Mountain Region!!! Nice showing and good fun. Quote
GT4Point6 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 So the myth is true, there are RM drivers.... Nice! Quote
K Shaw Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Next event we should have three more cars with a totall of nine CMC racers. We also have two guys in the HPDE ranks with cars in build. One of them (mustang driver) made it to group 3 so he should be joining us soon. the other (4th gen Camaro) just did his first HPDE and his car is almost ready for a cage. Hopefully those two will join us this year. We have two others looking into CMC that did not make this event. We may see 10-13 cars next year. Pretty good growth if you ask me. kyle Quote
Tony G Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Great to hear you guys are growing and nice to see my friend Mike Kapp back on this site ( Hi Mike). You guys rock! Tony Guaglione Quote
nasa-rm Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 Cool to see Mr. Kapp back in the CMC family... Speaking of old CMC'ers I got an email last month from Rick Santos (Gilroy CA) who used to run CMC back in the 90's. He's still got his Camaro and was thinking about racing again. Quote
Lady in Nomex Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Rick Santos has been showing up at Buttonwillow and sometimes Thunderhill on a semi-regular basis. He's around! Quote
Tony G Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Yes, Rick runs with us at least half the time with us every year, always a pleasure having him with us. Tony Guaglione. Quote
cmc35 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 So the myth is true, there are RM drivers.... Nice! Oh, that hurts... The AI/CMC/Thunder group was on grid at 3pm. It started to sprinkle. By the time we finished our 20 minute race, it was snowing. Of course, being the weight-conscious folks we are, no one had wipers, etc. Find your mark? Not a chance. The whole experience was a riot. -chris Quote
K Shaw Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Good news. Two more guys just signed up for HPDE1 may. Could we see a few more racers in the future? kyle Quote
mitchntx1548534714 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 The whole experience was a riot. -chris In Texas ... we NEVER get to race in the snow. Car count looks great! Glad it's growing. How many of you are coming to Hallett? I certainly wish there wasn't a conflict with Miller. Quote
cmc35 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Mitch, At this point, the Rocky Mtn AI/CMC racers are all planning to come to Hallett, and skip Miller. This could of course change, but that's the plan. Between AI and CMC, it's probably 10-15 cars. -chris Quote
CMC#11 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Great to hear Chris, looks like possible a 40 car field!! Quote
mitchntx1548534714 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Wow ... 40 cars all funneling into T1 and the 20 that remain all dicing into T2 ... Quote
CMC#11 Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 It won't be bad Mitch. Remember, we went 6-wide at Hallett in 2006 when the Vette stalled. Burch and Corey were side by side in the grass though. Quote
jeffburch Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 LOL! He did make the pass. He was so far off the surface the timing loop didn't see him. Sinead 'O Dentist in the Vette jb Quote
nasa-rm Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 Ok. Here's highlights from Sunday's rain/light snow race. Funny Stuff. Quote
K Shaw Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I'm planning on Hallet. As long as the funds are there I'm in. kyle Quote
RichV Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Nice job all. Maybe next time my bottom end will survive and I'll be in the mix. I had a tear every race this last weekend. Wish I was in there. Quote
