MHISSTC Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 This is going to be very interesting to try and incorporate into some future iteration of CMC: 2011 Mustang electric power assisted steering V6 = 305HP 280 TQ aluminum 3.7L DOHC 19" wheels available in the Performance Package GT = 410HP 5.0L V8 http://www.autoblog.com/tag/2011+ford+mustang/ I'd love to put that little 3.7L V6 is a lighter chassis like my '83 Capri. 92MNstanger Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Well the good things about the CMC rules is that they require the V8 car. The bad thing is the new Camaro and the new Mustang are over 400 horse stock. That's 180 more hp than a fox mustang and even more for the camaro. It will be hard to develop a rule set to make everyone happy. Guys with new cars will have to restrict and guys with older cars will need to spend some bucks. It will be an interesting couple of years. Quote
Glenn Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 We are just now intergrating the 4th gen LSX cars that were introduced back in 1998 (late 97). That was 12 years ago. We have plenty of time. I have inquired about introducing the V-6 4th gen a few times (for CMC). Wonder what would happen if we dropped CMC power to 200/280 and allowed the 4th gen V-6 w/ no minimum weight? Quote
MHISSTC Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 No. The no minimum weight rule would be reserved for the Iron Duke powered Camaros and the Lima powered Mustangs. All other weight classes will have to be upped to help make the Challengers competetive. Quote
92MNstanger Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I like the sound of a 200hp Esslinger equipped fox mustang. Quote
Richard Pryor1548534703 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Actually I think that 10 years or so (or sooner...like anytime) from now the 5th gen Camaros in CMC will be V6's...the car is too heavy, but makes around 300 hp..should be workable. On the 4th gen V6's..it's not a bad idea but the power is down a bit too much and expensive to bring it up..the weight is no different than a V8 when race prep is done. SCCA classed the cars in Showroom Stock B (still does) and we built 6 of the cars from 1998 to 2004. They all did very well in the class winning lots of races including Nick Littleton, CMC past champion, winning the SCCA Divisional title in one of the cars, prior to the Solstice being classed. As a comparison for CMC vs SSB at Laguna, I set the lap record for SSB several years ago (and it still stands) at a 1:47.384, which is pretty much what CMC cars turned the last time they ran Laguna years ago. The differences in the SSB car...stock shocks and springs, no weight removal, 205rwhp, 246 torque, stock engine and exhaust manifolds and cats in place, cat back race exhaust...lots of ways to improve time due to CMC rules...probably good for 2 seconds a lap I think....the big difference is that I ran a new sticker set of Kumho V710's, which were good for those times for exactly 15 minutes and then they dropped off a second a lap for the second half of the race...but with CMC spec Toyos and CMC mods to the Camaro V6 4th gen...I think the car would be darned equal to the CMC cars with little tweaking....there are V6 camaros (1998 up is required and the 2000 up while rated the same actually make 10 extra hp) out there for $1200-$1500...so a cheap start. But after all this writing about how they could be equal, my question is "why?" since there are already so many eligible cars and wouldn't require another variable. Quote
MHISSTC Posted January 23, 2010 Author Posted January 23, 2010 While I think you have shown the newer V6 cars could be incorporated into the series with a minimum of rule modifications and legacy platform upgrades, it completely misses what is at the core of CMC...V8 powered Ponycars. Quote
nasa-rm Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 My question is what do we do with the 14" brakes and 19" wheels on the 2011 GT? CMC3!!!! Quote
