mitchntx1548534714 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 15.17.9 of the CCR does not discuss SFI rating expiration, only use of and proper mounting. 15.10 discusses window "nets" and the requirement to be replaced ever 5 years and is abundantly clear. The window net and right side head restraint serves very similar purposes, but the CCR has two distinct sections on each item. I searched the CMC rules and saw nothing there. Quote

Members Al F. Posted December 23, 2009 Members Posted December 23, 2009 Right side head restraints do not expire based on a date. From NASA HQ: "There currently is no mechanism or spec for the right side net expiration so we are just sticking with good condition until further notice" Quote
rleng11548534736 Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Just so I am clear, you must have either a right side net or right side head restraint mechanism, as you would have with a full encapsulated seat. Correct? Quote
Adam Ginsberg Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Just so I am clear, you must have either a right side net or right side head restraint mechanism, as you would have with a full encapsulated seat. Correct? Correct. However, be sure to check the CCR's for proper understanding. Quote
stevemichael Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 My question in regards to this topic is; If I have an FIA approved HALO seat that is out of date and being used with a seatback brace (no holes drilled in seat of course), do I need a net or is the out of date halo seat acceptable? Members Al F. Posted January 12, 2010 Members Posted January 12, 2010 An out of date FIA seat with a backbrace is acceptable. The halo on such a seat is also acceptable. Quote
