92MNstanger Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) Are people using somethingbesides the stock fans/shroud on these cars? I was looking at a single 2350 cfm fan wired to the master switch to cut some pounds off the nose of the car. Does anyone have any experience with nonstock fans? KiMifan Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'll bet if you have a good radiator and properly duct the air through it, you won't even need a fan. Quote
92MNstanger Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Thanks, Matt. If you needed one, though...What about this one? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRM-19126/ Quote
Members Al F. Posted January 14, 2010 Members Posted January 14, 2010 Plenty of 4th gens are out there without fans. Some will borderline overheat when coming off track and going through tech. I put mine back for that reason. Its a generic electric pull. Quote
92MNstanger Posted January 14, 2010 Author Posted January 14, 2010 Do you happen to know the diameter or cfm? That's the only thing I am worried about. I have seen people push their cars to tech due to long lines coming off the track in congested pit areas (BFR). Quote
stevemichael Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I still have the stock wire harness in the car and just pulled out the dual fan set up yesterday. Would there be anything wrong with re-terminating one of the stock fan plugs and plugging it into my new, universal fan? Does the thermostat for the stock fans use a signal from one of the temp senders? Steve Quote

Steve The answer is yes, you can splice into factory wiring for the fan to tunn on and off based on the temp signal used by the PCM. It is interesting that the factory fan set up weighs 14 lbs. Dumping that set up sure helps get weight off the front end of the car. Quote
Raging Aardvark Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 We wired our 3rd gens fans onto separate switches. Last season they were used more for keeping the car cool on grid than during the races. Wiring them is a snap. Quote
